A coworker of mine likes going to Whole Foods for lunch so I stumble in there on occasion. They have TONS of organic food, at organic for prices (read: expensive). The salad bar and hot bar are $5.99lb and usually have some good offerings. I wouldnt do my everyday grocery shopping there, but I also don't care that much about food being organic. My favorite thing about shopping at Whole Foods is the wide variety of bulk foods. You name it, they have it: oats, barley, wheat berries, granola, dried fruit, chocolate dipped pretzels, wasabi peas…Their selection of organic produce is unmatched in the Triangle. Their bakery produces delicious crusty bread and sweet treats, and their deli offers outstanding salads. If you’re looking for specialty foods, this is the place to look.

Whole Foods is an excellent alternative to many of the other grocery stores in the area. The fruit is usually much prettier than that found at Food Lion or Harris Teeter, however, it can be more expensive. It's easier to find organically grown foods here, as well as specialty health-food items. A friend of mine is very found of buying her beans and such to sprout at Whole Foods by the pound. There is now a small shop to the side within the store specializing in organic beauty care products, and they carry almost all of the Burt's Bee's line. Another strength of Whole Foods is the selection of both potted and cut flowers. They are some of the most beautiful and inexpensive flowers in Raleigh!
