I discovered Piccola Italia in 1982 after searching high and low for REAL Pizza. A friend suggested I visit Piccola Italia and I've been hooked ever since. At least twice a week I can be found stuffing my face at my favorite booth.
Don't pay any attention to the negative posts.
They are being posted by a few former employees who were canned for failing to show up for work .
Try Piccola yourself. You won't regret it.
Pros: Great Service, Friendly Staff, Awesome Food
Cons: Closed Sunday

When my husband and I arrived at Piccola Italia, the hostess asked the waitress out front, "Will you take this one?" The waitress replied, "I guess if I have to." Looking back, we should have left then - or at least when we got to our table, where food and dirty silverware littered the floor. Our waitress came to our table three times - the last time, she asked us if we wanted dessert while we were only about halfway through dinner. Then she dropped the check on the table. Maybe she was in a hurry to get off work - I don't know. We tried to speak to a man who seemed to be a manager about the service - growing up, my dad used to say his worst customers were the ones who never came back and never said why - but he just shouted "Thank you!" at us and ran. No apology, no interest in what went wrong. This place was quite a bit different fifteen years ago - maybe it's the new generation. We won't be back.
Pros: serviceable food
Cons: hostile service, dirty dining room

First of all, I would like to point out the fact that the last review could not have been written by a so-called "teacher" because teachers would not use such incorrect grammar and incomplete sentences. It's crazy the things that some people will say or fabricate to try and seek revenge for a personal bad experience. Listen people, Piccola Italia is a great restaurant to eat at. I've eaten there for several years and the food is amazing. I've never had a problem with the servers or night time management. I have also worked in the food industry and witnessed many cases of people writing negative reviews on citysearch in an attempt to retaliate for not being given whatever it was that they wanted. (I.E. free food, a discount, a free dessert, etc.) Piccola is not a corporate restaurant; it is family owned and operated. Therefore, since most expenses are from out of pocket, they are not going to be so quick to give away free food such as a corporate restaurant would. No private or family owned restaurant would give away free food because they simply can't afford to do it for everyone who cried wolf. Don't read these crappy reviews for any restaurant. Most of them are written by people that just wanted their a$$ kissed way too much or wanted something for free. If you really want to find out what the food and service is like at any restaurant, especially this one, go and check it out for yourself. Don't let other people decide for you.

I am a teacher and each lesson is a lesson learned. The main thing I teach my students is being polite and to be respectful of others.
This place is fine if you want pizza, to go. The food was spared, nothing to the description and the wait staff ignoring us after he had already been rude and was talking loudly enough for people to hear in the resturant to the other wait staff about us because we asked questions was unbelievable. Finally had it and left, they came out screaming and threatening us in front of their own customers in the parking lot! Now that we finally got their attention I tried to discuss things and after being looked up and down so many times by the Manager and holared at by other wait staff, being profiled as beggers and wanting something free (yes this did come out of their mouths), when obviously we didn't want it at all at this point just wasn't even worth anything! This was completely disgraceful and untactful! The staff (Especially the manager) has all been in their narrow minded world of this place for too long they need professional training and etiquette.I am sure her father would have not been the proud owner he seems. I have been coming to Cameron Village since I was a little girl with my own mother and doing the same with my own daughter's now, which were with me in this catastrophe. I have never been treated this way in any place I have ever been.
Pros: Authinic Italian Pizza
Cons: Dirty, grundgy, RUDE

I can not believe that some people had bad experiences at this place? I have been eating there every chance that I get since I was a college student at NCSU back in the 80?s. I eat there almost every time I return to Raleigh. Their pizza is so good that I am actually dreaming of it now. Every person that I have ever taken to eat there has returned. I have always received excellent food and great service. I would recommend the Piccola to any one with out hesitation.
Pros: Wonderful food
Cons: only that I live 150 miles away.

This is the perfect place for yummy Italian comfort food--great pizza and pasta, mammoth calzones. The service is friendly and the owner is usually on hand to welcome you. This is also our go-to spot for take out pizza--forget the pizza chains.
Nice ambience indoors or you can sit outside when the weather cooperates.
Pros: great pizza, calzones and Italian comfort food

Nothing better than cold lasagna, on a big, cold, plate.
What kind of management lets cold food go out of the kitchen?
I saw a lot of old patrons here. You know what that means.
