I went to skin sense for the first time a few months ago, and the therapist, Mitali, was great. I called to make an appontment with her and was told she is "no longer with us." They wouldnt give me anymore info. (If anyone knows where she has gone, please tell me!) A co-worker suggested I see Renee, so I made an appointment with her. When I got there, I was given a different therapist than the one I was scheduled with, and she must have been the new girl, because the massage was blah, she finished it early, and she did not ask me anything about my muscles, any problems I had or the pressure of her massage. When I complained to the staff, they could care less. I will not be going back.
Cons: mediocre massage, unhelpful staff

I just recently moved to the area. Being a big fan of spas, I have gone to many around the country. I tried Skin Sense for the first time when my sister-in-law recommended the spa to me. The moment I walked into Skin Sense, my body relaxed and I felt taken care of by the friendly staff. The ambience was zen and peaceful, and I could have slept for hours in the relaxation lounge. I had a hot stone massage with Jen. About 15 minutes into it, I fell asleep. I can't believe I actually was able to let go....my mind is always racing. At the end Jen gave me tips and stretches on how to carry my relaxation home with me - what a nice touch! I felt like she cared about me taking care of myself and had a plan for me until my next visit.
After my massage, I had a facial with Sahana. She looked at my skin and made some recommendations on the facial that would be best for my skin type and what she was seeing. I liked this personal attention, and I was glowing when I left. I have already scheduled my next spa day and I'm bringing a girlfriend!
Pros: friendly, caring staff and great treatments

I have gone to this skin sense about 5 times and 2 of them I had bad experiences. I had a bikini wax and the girl must not have been paying attention because she burned/pulled off my skin and I could wear underware for 3 days. I also went back for a facial with a friend, we both came out and said "HOLY COW" she used a PIN on my face, WHICH I still have a scar from. I found out when I was at another salon the pin (aka Lancer ) is ILLEGAL and shouldn't be and it has been that was for a few years now. You might get a good treatment, you might not, I am not taking any risks and I don't want any more scars.
Cons: Inconsistent Service

I recently visited this spa, and I admit my pedicure went quite well. The young lady that did it, I think her name was Trina, was very polite and even made me laugh a few times. I observed a woman in the spa and another staff member told me she was the owner. She appeared very uptight and did not converse with her staff at all. These young women were very busy working hard, its a shame that people like her only think about money and dont care about their employees.
Pros: great staff, nice environment
Cons: Rude owner, expensive retail

Staff was rude and constantly walked back and forth through the "relaxation lounge".
Massage was mediocre at best. Therapist would not stop talking and telling me which muscles were tense. I wanted to say, "Yes, my muscles are tense. That's why I'm here getting a massage!"
During my massage, I could hear little girls screaming and laughing the entire time (they were 7-9 years old according to my MT, but were in the Teens Too portion of the spa).
Manager was not accomodating and tried to sell me products even after I had complained about the above.
All they care about at this location is getting your money. SELL, SELL, SELL. There's even a sign at the front desk saying to push upgrades. This is clearly visible to customers.
I will never go back.
Pros: Nice robes, slides and locker room
Cons: Rude staff, tiny relaxtion room with staff constantly running through it, noisy even in treatment rooms, high pressure sales

I went to Skin Sense for a full leg and full brazillian bikini wax. My technician was a pleasant girl in her early 20's I think, and she was nothing but professional. I had made an early morning appointment, and when I walked in I was directed towards a waiting room that had fruit and coffee and tea available, and a nice fountain and really comfortable chairs. The room was very zen. :) The staff used very quiet, serene voices when coming to get customers from the waiting rooms, and overall the atmosphere was wonderful. I could have fallen asleep right there in the waiting room. My appointment took about an hour and 15 minutes, and then I was off. The brazillian was great, lasted for a blissful month. The leg wax left me a little dissatisfied, but I think the blame is my own ( I don't think that I had let my hair grow long enough.) There were a few patches that the technician seemed to have missed, and as the hair grew back, I had a million ingrown hairs on my calves - yuck! It was a pain to get rid of those. But again, I suspect that had my hair been longer, the wax would have been more successful. Being my first leg wax, I had been a little unclear as to how long it had to be. (It was not my first brazillian.) Lastly, I was a little disappointed that I was charged full price for both the leg and brazillian waxes, however, because on the website it said that a full leg wax included a bikini wax. I had only been expecting to have a small charge for upgrading the bikini to a brazillian. But aside from that, I would recommend Skin Sense, and in fact, I have another brazillian appointment later on this month.
Pros: relaxing atmosphere, professional staff
Cons: misleading prices on website differ from actual costs

I have been to several spa locations in Raleigh and have never experienced such a wonderful service as I did at Skin Sense. I received a gift card from a friend to Skin Sense and didn't know what to expect. I could not believe how calming and comfortable the spa was. The locker room was wonderful with all the amenities one could need. I was immediately relaxed while sitting in the quite room before and after the message. Thank you all so much for a wonderful experience. I'll be back!!! I've convinced my mother to come with me next time she is in town.
Pros: Beautiful ambience, relaxing service, knowledgable therapists
