The walls, shelves, window sills, and another other space is covered in fire department memorabilia. And the food is great too. On your first trip there, it might be a bit hard to find. It is in a strip plaza next to a Food Lion. The old-time fire truck that they use for catering may help. If you have kids, it worth a trip.

My friends and I were looking for a different place to eat rather than our usual IHOP. We came across barrys and gave it a try. The food was exceptional and the service was great. The firemen look of the cafe was really cool and it was reasonably priced. I would recommend this to anyone. Pros: great food and service

Mr. Doyle, the owner of Barrys Cafe has a great restaurant, however, he is the most disrespectful individual that I have ever come across. I worked for him for a short period of time, and had a couple of uncomfortable run ins with the business owner. As I was standing at the register one morning taking payments, he indicated that he didint like the way that I would give back change, so I tried to do it the way he liked. Apparently I was still wrong, so he decided to come behind the counter and push me with his hips instead of asking me to step aside. Then when I asked him not to touch me, he proceeds to argue with me in front of customers and other employees. Shortly thereafter I went to the back of the resaturant because I was upset and embarassed. Deciding against working for him, I left and he tells me that if I dont return his apron, then I would not get paid for the 2 wks that I had worked. Someone of his small mind is very hard to work with. He is very disgusting, and he is not clean-often smelling of cigarettes, and constantly chain smoking in the open kitchen. Even in the kitchen Mr. Doyle will smoke cigarettes, not attempting to wash his hands, however, will continue to help out in the kitchen. The food is great and the service also, but I believe that Mr. Doyle is very unpleasant and rude.

We just moved to the area two weeks ago and this was the best breakfast we have had in a long time. They have outdoor teak wood tables with real floral arrangements on them and seating for six ! We brought the dogs and had a busy but friendly waitress, Linda, who welcomed us to the neighborhood ! Vegetarians can enjoy a hearty meal (like me) and the bacon and toast my husband ordered was as good as I make at home - possibly better ! The OJ is large and the biscuits are awesome ! I wanted veggies with my scambled egg and it was not a problem. The value is great and the prices are reasonable ~! Firemen eat here - two trucks were in the parking lot that should tell you something - but even more impressive was when I called for directions- the phone was answered Barry's Cafe - Barry speaking ! We will be back every weekend as a ritual ! It is so relaxing reading the newspaper and enjoying the surroundings.

This is truly the best burger I have had, and I've had many in the area, and all over the country. Order a Mamma burger, exacty how you like it and you will see what I mean. Also a great place to go on a weekend night when you want to eat good food quick and don't have time to wait around for a table with your name on a list. It's truly a secret place since I've never noticed it to be extremely crowded. Also a nice touch to have the owner walk around to say hi and ask how your meal was.
