Puyallup Fair

We went to the Puyallup Fair last year and we really enjoyed it. It is MUCH larger than the fairs we are used to. LOTS of people, animals, food and exhibits and displays and of course RIDES! We ended up spending several hours there and still didn't get to see everything they had to offer. The kids loved the petting zoo! more

I took my kids to the Spring Fair today, and I can't believe I'm saying this, but I really enjoyed it! We were there for SIX hours! I didn't even know that until I looked down at my watch and thought about when we arrived. We got there at 10am, got great free parking in the lot across the street, and it was pretty empty. The sun was shining, even though it was a little windy, and my kids got to go wherever they wanted without all the crowds. As time went by, the crowds picked up, since it got sunnier and hotter (70 I think). The Kids Zone was terrific. Even a breastfeeding booth that I stopped in to visit with my little nursling. Great shows, an interactive old west show for the kiddies, a puppet show, and the racing swine, yeah baby! We actually went to see SpongeBob SquarePants, but that was a real downer. It was just a photo booth of some guy dressed up in costume and a *really* long line to get an expensive professional picture taken with him. What a let down. They wouldn't even let him out of his chair long enough to wave or shake hands. My kids were disappointed. We bought our discounted tickets this morning at Fred Meyer and got the coupon on the bottom for 7 rides for $13, which is a pretty big savings over the regular ticket price. My kids had a blast and didn't want to leave, even though they were pretty tuckered out. The Fair scones were there of course, and we didn't even have to wait in line! I was surprised by how short and fast the lines were. I had never been to the Spring Fair before, and I'm glad we went. I'd rather do this one than the regular Puyallup Fair in the Fall. more

If you somehow acquire cheaper tickets, then it is worth it to hit the fair. You should probably eat before you go, because everybody knows that carnival food is very pricy. They have a lot of animal barns, from baby ducks to fat cows. It has turned very commercial over the years though, and it is definitely not fun if it is raining. They have free concerts to go to almost every night. more

This happens once a year. Great place to see farm animals, and try great food. Prices for elephants ears have gone up in price. They're $5 dollars now, for the $3 in 2000. They also have great little side shows such as the hypnotist that does one every 2 hours. It might be staged though. They have some famous people perform on thier stage such as Hilary Duff, and Lee Ann Womack. It's cheap and you will be able to spend the whole day there. They close at 10 pm. more

The Puyallup Fairgrounds is the place to be every year come to September. Of course you have your typical amusement rides, petting zoos, livestock shows, etc. like any other fair. But this fair also has rodeos, live concerts with big name artists, and did I say it is HUGE! This is a fun place for the whole family, and don't forget to bring your checkbook! :) It gets quite expensive with 4 kids wanting to ride EVERY ride. But, hey, it's a once a year thing and a good way for the family to get out and spend some time together. more
