At Amanda's Yarns in downtown Poulsbo, there is a large selection of both exotic and mid-priced yarn. There is always a markdown bin as well.
Amanda is warm, extremely knowledgeable, always helpful and a very talented teacher. She owns sheep and spins her own yarn as well. She is very helpful in converting patterns for a specific yarn.
I can never walk out of this store without having purchased any yarn!

I walk into the store and instantly, I'm greeted with the scent of incense and antiquity. The atmosphere is comfy, so at the end of a hard day's work, I enjoy browsing the beautiful furniture of antiques and replicas. I dream of what my living room would look like with all the exquisite furniture. I love the Asian antiques the most, but there are tons of little whatcha-ma-call-its to view as well. I always feel right at home at Bad Blanche. I would love to buy every piece of furniture in there! Oh yeah, take advantage of the coffee and tea that's provided for all customers. Even if you aren't considering buying anything, it's such a great place to just stop by and dream at. :)

When looking for wedding sets -we stopped by here first. Not the best idea because they didn't want to help us. They seem a tad snobby and like they couldn't be bother with a young couple. Even though we had thousands to spend , I guess our money wasn't good enough. Also - parking is terrible. It is in downtown Poulsbo so it is hard to get in and out of the area. There is parking right tin front but we drove around and the spot never was available

Ok...I will say more. This is a shop that is fortunately for me (unfortunately for my waist line) just a short walk from where I live. Nestled downtown in the heart of Poulsbo, is this little "chocolate factory". A true gem to your palate, you couldn't ask for better (or more!) chocolates. Milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate......CHOCOLATE!!! This is the place to go if you've a chocolate craving, or want the perfect gift for someone special. Oh, and did I mention the staff is friendly too?

Don't be fooled by the name of this shop. Sure, they sell books, mostly paperbacks, and at great prices. But they also have a section with gently used clothing for children and adults, used purses and shoes and toys as well. All of their items are at great prices and the people there are very friendly. You can bring in some of your own used items as well for consignment and you can recieve cash or credit for them. Don't miss this store. It has some great stuff.

This is probably my favorite place to go in Poulsbo. The staff is SO friendly and courteous. They have good prices and a good selection of books. I try to go here as much as possible! I don't know what I would do without this place. They have adult books, children's books, paperbacks, hardcovers, and antique books. Just about anything you're looking for! And as an added bonus, you can bring in your books and trade them in for cash or credit.
**Update** This book store has recently (June 2006) changed ownership and the exchange policy is not great. I recently went in here and was told that I could not use my paperback book credit on any trade paperbacks, children's paperbacks, etc. I can only use it on little paperbacks. So, in other words, if I were to bring in some trade paperbacks for credit, I could only use that credit on more trade paperbacks. If I bring in children's books for credit I can only use that credit on children's books. What a hassle! To top it off, when I went up to the register the other day to purchase a trade paperback with my credit and was told I couldn't, the employee helpfully suggested that I convert my credit to cash to purchase the book. I thought, "Okay, great!" Here's the catch....when she converted my credit to cash, my $22 of credit converted to $11 cash and the cash I had left over ($5.60) converted back to credit. UGH. What a rip off! Plus, this store conveniently "lost" a cash amount that was due to me from a previous book exchange.
I'm actually very saddened by all of this, as this was one of my favorite places in Poulsbo. I may be in here again to purchase books, but I will never exchange books here again.

I love going to the Dancing Brush on my "Mommy's Night Out!" The staff is courteous, and during the weekday evenings it is pretty quiet in there. Saturdays and Sundays are for the kids though, so if you are looking for quiet time to relax and be creative, go during the week!
