The Smalling Motel is one of those places that is often still open when all the other rooms in town are booked during college graduations and alumni weekends. The amenities here are seriously lacking- they might have an ice machine but little else. The rooms are also cheesily decorated- be prepared to wretch. All in all the staff here is friendly and the rooms are cheap enough so no real complaints. However do not expect a high class establishment and you will not be disappointed.

The Clarkson Inn is one of the best locations in Potsdam to stay during a business or social trip. Unfortunately, this hotel books up years in advance of any graduation or alumni weekend for Clarkson- they never seem to have anything available for when you will need it. This inn is nicely situated on the Racquette River near the center of town- convienient to downtown and Clarkson and Potsdam State Universities.

Anybody living in Potsdam during the Winter knows how frigid the air gets around November-April. When you've had too much to drink to drive home during this weather the Potsdam Taxi's service is invaluable. They are very cheap and offer deals and coupons to local groups. They are great at getting you around the Potsdam area and are very efficient picking up people that call them.
