Tardelli's is a very nice and cozy restaurant in the center of Potsdam. The outside looks a bit gaudy with a huge festive sign and beat up parking lot, but inside there is a nice fireplace and the decor is a little better than expected. Here they prepare many Italian inspired dishes- with your choice of pasta type and sauce. The pasta is not the best (probably from a box), but the marinara is not half bad with huge chunks of tomato and garlic. They have a full liquor licence, good service, and low prices (when considering I'm comparing it to Boston and NYC Italian). All in all it's quite nice.

The most interesting thing about Mama Lucia is that it is housed in a renovated train depot. The meals are served family style-In platters that serve around 4 people. The wait staff write their names on the table cloths and will often sing italian arias.
PROS:
CONS: The portions are a little on the small size

Eben's Hearth is located convieniently across the street from Clarkson University's main campus. Unfortunately the food here tastes as if it could have come from one of the dining halls- between the grease and the added sodium it makes you wonder if there is such a thing as life before TV dinners. However, this restaurant is fun for things like Quick Draw and drinking at noon.... They have beer available by the pitcher cheaply- also a big hit among the college students. The tables here are uncomfortable and the help is a little lacking, but all in all this place isn't all that bad.

Caroline's was always the place we would go in college when we were extremely hung over and looking for something greasy to beat the morning after. Here they are open for breakfast and lunch and serve up homestyle cooking like pancakes and omelets. All the food here is greasy- probably not the place to go if you're watching your weight. The inside of the diner was also not much to please the eye- you could peak over the counter to see the cook frying the heck out of your food. Not that appetizing, but one of our favorite's when we were in college nonetheless.

Ton's Sports Bar is a one of a kind place in Potsdam. It's a complete dive, with antiquated beer banners and sports memorbilia strewn about. The staff here is local and they don't take well to underage college kids that try their luck with thier fake id's. Do not expect plasma screens and such here- they have an old school big screen and that's all. They do have good drink specials though.

Josie's was always open until after the bars in Potsdam closed, making it the perfect place to stop by for a slice of pizza or a calzone on your way home. The pizza here is of the square slice variety with a thicker crust. The cheese and sauce tends to get a bit greasy during the cooking and reheating process. All in all, this is an alright place to go in a pinch, and also might have some of the best pizza in Potsdam, but it is still not very good when you compare it to other places. The service here is nice and friendly and the pizza is cheap enough to attract the college students.

Open only for breakfast, the Hop serves up comfort food to the locals of Potsdam. All the dishes here are either deep-fried or heavy on the grease. I ordered the pancakes on my one occassion eating here- I could only eat half of one they were so filing. I guess that is what they mean by "stick to your ribs country cooking". The staff/owner here is very friendly and the place is dated but charming nonetheless.
