Portland Tub & Tan

What a wonderful adventure! I have never gone to a Tub and Tan before but last time I was in Portland, on the advice of many friends, I visited and it was the best experience of the year. I am a rather shy and reticent person but John is such a kind, non judgemental, considerate person, he greeted me with real warmth, helped me to feel safe and as if I were a precious person instead of a 50 plus woman with physical challenges! He visited with me long enough to help me choose exactly the right private room theme for me. Not only is he an honest businessman but very creative with tremendous attention to detail, right down to the color selections for the Tubs, the wide variety of music , and the wide variety of themes. I felt so safe as I relaxed into the Tub, enjoying the little glass of wine they allowed me to bring in, indulged in deep relaxation and the beauty of the painted scene enveloping me and the luscious notes of esoteric, relaxing music in my headphones It's been such a difficult year but I felt every ounce of stress and sorrow just melt away and sink to the bottom of the Tub and flow away! I even indulged in a tan, something I rarely do, and it left my skin glowing, warm, and full of vitamin D- no burns, no errors, no worries, just a beautiful warming experience on every level. Next spring when I visit Portland again, I look forward to enjoying an outdoor tub! I think it would be fun on a fresh spring day with a Portland rain falling. I wish John and his staff all the best and I hope that they and this establishment remain to bless Portland and visitors for a very long time. Visiting Portland Tub and Tan is good and refreshing for body soul and spirit and in this environment, where I felt nurtured and protected and valued, I had the opportunity to reawaken my own sense of self care. It's become our old stand by when we get a date night out. Dinner and movies is so old. He He! So instead we dine and then head to Tub and Tan. They have private hot tub rooms with showers. Everytime we have gone they are clean. Fresh towels and ice water is provided, and the rate is reasonable. It's $35 a hour. Relax and enjoy the music and give your honey a back rub. You can make an appointment - suggested on weekends - but they take walk ins too, if they have the room available. more

I went there with my partner on our anniversary, to introduce him to the joys of hot-tubbing. The staff was not only helpful but outright friendly and sweet -- they helped us pick the right service for our money, and even gave us a discount when the jets were slow in turning on! The room itself was spotless, private, and had a small bed in it; a privelege, I discovered, of the VIP rooms. I recommend this over hotel rooms for the sexually adventurous. The look and feel of the room was also rather enchanting, dim lighting and well-arranged decor. There's a TV and a radio, but who would watch TV in here? The rental cost about $40 for an hour's enjoyment. The most lovely and surprising feature here -- something I hadn't seen in the hot-tub places I used to frequent in California -- was the water system in the ceiling: you turn a lever in the wall, and a light, cool mist sprays out from above, which in the hot water is extremely pleasant. It was a beautiful experience, all in all, and the only disadvantage was the cost. Which is worth it, at least every once in a while. more
