We love to go to OMSI when we're in Portland. It's a super science museum. They have tons of hands on stuff for little to big kids and great displays with tons of information about all sorts of things. They also have a great IMAX theatre. At Christmas time they have a cool laser light show. They also have a neat show about the constellations and stars.

I have been taking my kids to OMSI for years. We have a yearly membership, and it totally pays for itself in a few visits. My boys love all the different science exhibits and have so much fun they actually forget they are learning.
The main hall has an exhibit thta changes every so often, so it really keeps things new and exciting. This last week, we went to OMSI and for the first time, my 8 year old went into the chemistry lab, where after donning goggles, he was able to perform several chemical experiments that were set up and ready to go. The OMSI staff and volunteers were on hand to offer help and explanation. We had a wonderful time.

OMSI is an excellent museum for the whole family. Since it is mostly indoors, it is a year round destination. There is something for every age there, even the babies. Whether you want to play in the science experiment section, the air ball room, the submarine, the planetarium, the Omni Max Theater, the biological section, the children's play room or even just sit in the cafe, there is something to entertain you for the whole day. The main ballroom also hosts a range of traveling exhibits with themes ranging from dinosaurs to cartoons. For what you get from this experience, the cost is reasonable and they will give you an AAA discount.

With my ASTC membership I decided to check this place out and this was by far the best museum I have visited in the NW. The place is huge, packed with tons of hands on exhibits and a very very friendly team of staff. The museum was very easy to navigate through and provided a days worth of fun for me and my family!!!!

I went to OMSI once because I had an ASTC membership which allowed me to get into here for free. The amount of exhibit areas really blew me away. The hands-on activities kept my nephews entertained such a long time that we ended up spending the whole day here. There were no signs of stress anywhere; everyone who works there looks like they are having fun too.

OMSI has always been a family favorite of mine. It offers experiments and displays that make science information engaging that would otherwise be quite dull. My employers in the past have also held great events there-although you do want to check out what the current displays will be. One event we had was held under a series of giant sperm--a bit odd, yet entertaining still.

OMSI will keep the kids (of all ages) busy for hours. For the little ones, there is a large room just for them to explore including sand play, water play and other hands-on exploration. Don't miss checking out the working steam engine and the ball room is not to be missed. There is plenty of hands-on fun for kids (and grownups) of all ages.

A trip to OMSI is a fun and educational event for the whole family. The Science Playground is my youngest daughters favorite place at OMSI. It is located on the second floor and was created for children ages 0-6. Sandland and Waterworks are popular interactive exhibits in the Science Playground. Discovery Lab is filled with activities for little ones to do, including making flubber! Turbine Hall, located on the first level, is fun for older children and adults. It is full of hands on activities that will really make you think. Don't forget to watch a movie in the OMNIMAX dome theater while you are there. You can sit back and watch a movie on the entire dome shaped ceiling. The Planetarium is also fun to watch Laser Light shows or space science movies. OMSI is expensive, but definitely worth the money. Wear comfortable shoes and plan to spend a few hours there (at least), if you would like to see everything.

Membership at OMSI is worthwhile, as the exhibits rotate throughout the year making the experience totally new each time you visit.
The kids love to browse the OMSI store afterward to pick out a souvenir. The store is like a big candy store for the science enthusiast!
