Portland Nursery offers the best selection of plants for your home or business in the Greater Portland area. I particularly like the way they lay out the assortment, so if you are looking for a medium sized evergreen bush, they are all in the same area.
Even if you don’t need to buy any plants it is a great outing on a nice day. There are cute benches and paths around the plants and we enjoy simply “window” shopping.
They also have a knowledgeable staff and I even call them from home with questions and they are always willing to help.
While their prices are high… if you have a particular plant in mind, it is worth the extra expense.

I am the first to say that sometimes you get what you pay for, but there is no logical reason for the prices at this nursery, they are outrageous. It is not that the nursery isn't nice, but unless you are loaded with money there are plenty of choices nearby, sorry First Light but triple the normal price?

In Portland everyone has a little yard or at least a balcony and thinks of a garden as an outdoor environment. Although there are exceptions and indoor plants are wonderful, this is stretching it a bit. This store has mainly indoor houseplants , candles and other gifty things. They do have lotions for rough garden hands (while watering house plants?) It is a gift shoppe not a garden store.

This was recently wholesale only so it is set up quite a bit different from other nurseries and can be a bit intimidating. They will ask if you are retail or wholesale and direct you when you pull in. When you are finished you haul the plants back to the cashier which is inside so it is a little odd. The good part is that they have a ton of plants and the prices are not bad, you can just about get everything you need at this one nursery. Just be prepared to search the large grounds and many greenhouses for what you want. It is a lot of fun if you alot enough time and come prepared with a list of plant names.
