I recently had a massage with Kristine and it was great! Kristine is wonderfuly kind and warm. Her massage was wonderful! She's very focused, thurough and strong. I asked for focus in my neck, and that's exactly what I got- she really dug into my knots, and spent a lot of time on my neck. I'm very pleased with my experience and would highly recommend her. The office is nice as well, and the massage table is heated!

I have been going to Stacy for years and she is amazing. Whether you are wanting something simple or extremly edgy, Stacy is the person for you. There has been many times that I went to Stacy and had no idea what I wanted but Stacy was always willing to suggest a new fresh idea. I dont like to look like everyone and when I leave I don't, I walk out with something new and hot. Not only that, the conversation is always so great. Stacy is such a great person that you have to meet..You wont regret it.

This is probably the first haircut in my life that I actually ENJOYED. Chelsea was super easygoing and didn't try to sell me stuff. She KNEW my hair type (which is thick and straight-gets botched if the cut is all wrong) and cut it perfectly so it'll grow out nicely. She was fun to chat with and she does complimentary bang trims :-) If you're wanting to treat yourself, book an appointment with Chelsea!

rachel does the best bodywork i have ever had. i've done a lot of massage as a chronic pain patient, and it's always wound up making me more sore, couldn't be over soon enough and i only felt like it helped in an incremental way. rachel's fusion massage changed all that: it was not a boring procedure; it was a miracle. with the combination of the stones, her gentle thai massage stretching of sore muscles, the deep tissue work, the special attention to my jaw, i felt 5x better than when i came in. i fell asleep completely relaxed when i had been having a pain flare. i came back tonight, a week later. feeling lousy but not crashed. she really worked her magic. the way she uses hot stones, it feels like there are five or six sets of hands massaging you at once. i would call what she does bodywork in the sense that it isn't just passive: she uses her hands, the scents and the stones to help you stretch (the thai yoga part) and the music and oils create such a rich sensory experience that it's like intoxication. as a pain patient being worked on by her, i remember what it's like to be without pain. the feeling stays with me a long time afterward. her treatment has been so helpful that i plan to go every week.

Although I've lived in Pdx for many years and driven past it hundreds of times, I'd never been to this local Raleigh Hills brewpub. The inside is cool, with tall ceilings and "lodge" ish decor. Lots of room for large parties and a bar (the Den) overlooking the brewery downstairs. The food is better than average pub food and the service is very friendly and efficient. Great brownie sundae! I would totally recommend the Raccoon Lodge for a quick bite or for a more special occasion. Check out the Den for pool, darts and really good beer.

I went to Black Hole to get my navel and/or tragus pierced. Kyle at the front desk advised me not to do my tragus because it was too small and likely wouldn't support a piercing. So I went with navel, and my experience was great. They are very meticulous with their bookkeeping. The serial numbers for the piercing kit/jewelry used were recorded on my waiver, and I was given very detailed care instructions. Jayson, who pierced me, was very friendly and explained the process as he went through it. It hurt, but there were no issues or complications. So far, my piercing is healing perfectly. It was only sore for about a day. The room was very sterile. My friend got an industrial piercing the same day, and between the two of us, he changed gloves, cleaned the entire counter, and put new paper over the bench/bed thing. Not only the jewelry and needle but the entire piercing kit including the forceps was in sealed, sterilized bags. Another friend who went with us bought a barbell for her eyebrow (pierced somewhere else), and before selling it to her, Kyle measured her brow to make sure it would fit. It would have been really easy for him to just sell it to her to make a buck, but instead he put her satisfaction first. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.

The whole experience was wonderful from check in to check out. I had the Kanani No Ka Oi spa package which included a body wrap and facial with Lauren. I never felt rushed and the facilities were very clean. When I left, my face and body felt better than I had expected and I was really relaxed.
I have very sensitive face skin - I think more sensitive than most - which I expressed to my therapist. I explained to her some of the issues I've had with my face and the types of products I use to clean it. I also had recently used a product suggested to me by a friend which had left my face inflamed and broken out. Lauren, the therapist, not only was familiar with the products, but also made some excellent recommendations. She also took the information I provided to customize a facial that soothed and nourished my skin. I was a bit nervous when I ordered the facial because I had had one before at different spa and my face was red and on fire for more than 3 days. But I felt heard at Kanani and will definitely return for more facials.
The volcanic body wrap was also terrific. I have really dry skin, but this treatment left it softer than I've ever known and the whole experience was relaxing. Lauren clearly loves what she does!
In terms of the facilities - I was lead into the waiting area at the back of the studio where tea and light snacks were provided. When my therapist appeared ready for me, she saw that I was still drinking my tea and let me have a few more minutes. I didn't feel rushed. I was also given a robe and slippers for comfort. The private shower/steam stall was a very nice touch. It left me with the impression that I was the only one being focused on. It also allowed me the freedom to relax in silence. They provided soap and shampoo and conditioner if you want to wash your hair.
This was my first treatment at Kanani Pearl, but I have every intention of returning. Since I'm on a budget, it's nice that they have a regular weekly discount for spa packages. Overall, this was a lovely experience and I highly recommend Kanani.
