I love going downtown to Apple Music every now and then. They have amazing vintage guitars that I've never seen before, even though they're pretty expensive. They also have guitars I can't find at places such as Guitar Center or Portland Music. Also unlike Guitar Center, the employees are knowedgeable and friendly. Something that seemed a little odd though,w as on some guitars, they were charging more than what they were at other stores. Like this one Dean guitar you can get for $200 at Portland Music, Apple Music sells it for $280. But besides minor things like that, they have an excellent selection of guitars and amps, and it's always fun just to go in and try stuff out. It's great to have such an awesome music store here in Portland!

Everyday Music is tonal addiction. Thems gots everything. Lots of local stuff, and a good selection of imports/rarities. Music junkie atmosphere, and staff that knows their way around the world of music. Hard to say much more - other than this should be on you list of top 3 music stores in Portland.

Artichoke music caters to the folk industry. They carry fine acoustic instruments and are very knowledgeable. They have a many types of lessons to offer and are fine teachers. There is a stage and back room where bands and individuals perform. Most of these require purchased tickets which can be bought at the store. I would highly recommend Artichoke Music if this is your type of venue.

Ignore the weird music they tend to play inside, CD/Game exchange is one of the best in Portland. They sell music, movies and video games, new and used. The trade-in values here I find to be better than most music stores. Video games can also be found a little cheaper here, I can usually spend $25 here and come out with a bunch of rare, older games I'd never find anywhere else. DVDs are as low as $5 each, and are usually in very good condition. This is a store you should definitely check out.

Put quite simply, Everyday Music is the best record store I've ever shopped in. The selection and variety is second to none. The store on Sandy Boulevard is enormous, and it seems to be always open (actually, their hours are 9am to midnight, 365 days a year, so it is almost always open!) I really like that they file used CDs with new titles, so you only have to browse once for artists you are interested in. One warning: you WILL spend money here!

It’s sometimes hard to find a good interface between your instrument and someone who knows how to repair it. Inner Sound delivers quality service. I was really happy that they were able to do a rush job for me when I needed my keyboard for an upcoming gig. They repair home electronics as well.

When you want to purchase a great guitar like a Taylor, Martin or Laribee and are willing to pay well for it it is nice to know that Pioneer music can be trusted to steer you in the right direction. They offer lessons from well known area guitar gurus and they have a very fine luthier on site to repair your beloved guitar should it become necessary. They are very good to deal with.
