I was there the other night trying to get in behind someone using an id that looked extremely real (as im from the state it was issued in)... the men at the front door were extremely rude to her and starting making fun of the id, acting like high school students teasing the weird kid.. they then preceded to pass the id around laughing, and then even preceded to show me and other people outside the id as if this was something funny. basically they were extremely unprofessional and rude.
Pros: not much, cool lighting
Cons: extremely rude and unprofessional staff

The waiters were incredibly rude. I made the mistake of going there for my 21st birthday, PLEASE DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE. Bartenders are stuck up and MEAN! Here is some free advise to the workers at the Doug Fir: Tattoos and piercings don't make you cool and you look like a hypocritical idiot when you are rude to people who don't look the same as you. I will never recommend your "lounge" to anyone and I will even tell whoever will listen to stay away, although you probably prefer us non-tattooed people to stay away from you ultra "hip" and miserable people.
Pros: ....Cool building?
Cons: Too many

Had family and friends visiting Sunday. We decided to grab a drink and food at Doug Fir since we were in the area. Everything went well, food was good, service was fine(except our waiter had us open the bottle of Prosecco we ordered because he said he was afraid to?). At the end we divided the bill by 6, everyone paid cash and I put my amount on my debit card. Well unfortunately they authorized my card for the entire amount, however I was presented with a receipt to sign for the amount I had stated. I called the next day and was told a manager would call back. No one called. Well they put the charge through at over $100.00 of the amount I owed. Called again, was told same thing, a manager will call you. Still no call back.
It should be a given that when dining out and using a card for payment one shouldn't be over charged, especially for such a large amount. Also a manager should have responed immediately or made sure the right amount was charged to my account. I will hesitate to ever dine at this place in the future.

Went to see a Tuesday night band and was surprised it was crowded, obvoiusly a great place to see bands and dance. "Do It Offend You Yeah?" played, great band from the UK. Went back early Friday night, got shots and sangria (sangria was too watery) and chilled on the patio. Only minus is all the smokers but there was an outside fireplace and cool crowd. Great place to go any day of the week and beautiful decor, love the wood everywhere.
Pros: Parking found right away
Cons: Watery sangria

My husband & I always go early on a weekend to unwind in the bar area & snack on the happy hour food menu (cheeseburger and artichoke & spinach dip - mmmmmm!). The atmosphere at that hour is calm - cute, kitschy log cabin decor, lots of intimate areas for small groups. There are outside tables for smokers or those who simply want to sip alfresco. The attached Jupiter Hotel lends itself to the mod, mid-century feel. We've never seen a band there or gone late at night - prolly a completely different experience.
Pros: Mod, mid-century log cabin decor, good happy hour food menu, comfy seating

I have always been such a huge fan of the Doug Fir. It's the first place I think of when I need to take ANYONE out to eat. I guess great expectations can deliver great disappointments. When I had the opportunity to throw a birthday gathering for my significant other, the Doug was the first place I thought of. What a disappointment. We were greeted by a uncooperative rude girl (our seating hostess) who met us with nothing but negativity. She was the most unhelpful service industry person I have EVER MET. She was rude not only to us, but to our guests as well. It frankly became a HUGE embarrassment to me. Perhaps the Doug is uncomfortable with any patron that doesn't match their hipster crowd image. Myself and my guests (16 in all) were all treated as if we would skip out on the bill. How embarrassing... especially considering that the group was made up of doctors, stock brokers, and real estate developers. Sadly this is the last time I will go to the Doug Fir. I understand a strict seating policy... but work with the people who are PAYING for you to keep your job. Thank God that the Alu (where we went after the Doug) met and exceeded everyone's expectations.

The food and service is awful, the bar staff act like you are a burden and don't want to serve you. The food is okay for bar food if that tells you anything. I do like the smoked fish and cheese plate, the smoked trout is really awesome. Their beer is way too expensive, as is most everything else they offer. I would only go if you wanted to see a show. And I hear if you don't have tickets the bounce staff will let you on with enough coaxing...
Pros: Great music venue
Cons: Too hip
