Next to Costo, Winco is the cheapest place in town to buy Groceries. Better take cash though because they don't accept credit cards or debit cards.

I have to admit, WinCo is not my first choice of places to shop. However, when it comes to saving money or buying bulk food items (nuts, special ingredients for recipes, etc), it's a winner!
The other day I needed several ingredients for some cookies--- walnuts, coconuts, etc. I went to WinCo so I could get a small amount and hopefully save some money. The prices there were less than 1/2 as much as at the grocery store, and I was able to get exactly how much I needed for the recipe! There selection of bulk foods is quite amazing! All kinds of nuts, cereals, spices, and like I said, special ingredients--- sweetened coconut, turbinado sugar, etc! it's slightly awe-inspring, actually! I always end up spending 1/2 hour just wandering around gawking at their selection!
There other grocery items are all slightly less than your average grocer, as well. But the real bargain is in the bulk!

I'll never forget the one day I was buying dill weed at the grocery store in the little glass bottles in the baking aisle. Just out of curiosity, I checked the little tag on the shelf that listed the price, including the price per pound. I was stunned to find that the dill weed I was buying was around $250 a pound!! Outrageous. I vowed then and there that I would always purchase my spices in bulk bins.
At Winco, they have a huge selection of bulk bin spices, and so much more. There is cereal, candy, nuts, and snacks. I think they even have bulk bin pet food. Now I pay around 12 cents to fill up my bottle of dill weed. That's a price I can live with.
Winco has excellent prices on everything in their store, and the selection is amazing. At time, Winco is pretty crowded and most people seem to go there to really stock up, so the lines are pretty slow moving. Also, you will need to bag your own groceries, which is a very small price to pay for such savings. Recently, the Cedar Crossing Winco and the Orenco Station Winco started accepting ATM cards, which has made paying much easier, since I don't carry a check book.

Even if you don't do the majority of your shopping at Winco (and you should) at least check out the bulkfood section. Because you aren't paying for all the packaging and advertising of brand names you can save a ton of money on items like popcorn, raisins, nuts, and most of all spices.
I have been shopping at different Winco's for years and wouldn't do most of my shopping anywhere else. I prefer the Hwy 99 location after a bird on the produce incident at the Winco on Fourth Plain and Andresen. I would also try not to shop on the first weekend of the month because the store can be really crowded.
They now accept debit cards and they also accept manufacturers coupons.
On the way out with your cart full of groceries (for 1/2 as much at other stores) be sure to get a slice of yummy pizza. Its a large slice and includes a drink.

Winco is the place to go for the bulk of your shopping, if you do, it will cut your grocery bill in half. As a large family of 6, I've got to be frugal with our grocery budget, and Winco is the place to go. Their prices are significantly cheaper then Safeway, Albertsons, and Fred Meyers. I shop the newer East Vancouver store, and I prefer it compared to the other stores in the Vancouver area. It's usually less crowded, and stock is neater, shelves are full. To keep the prices lower, you have to bag the groceries yourself. And they don't accept Credit Cards. They do now accept debit cards, which is a nice change from before. It used to be cash, check only. So bring your helpers to help you bag! :)

If you have not taken the time to visit WinCo, then you are missing a huge opportunity to save some money. WinCo is not a membership supermarket, like many people think. It is simply a self-serve market where you bag your own groceries and have to shop large aisles with some food still in the packing boxes. While they are known for the bulk food section, I am impressed with the variety of choices throughout the whole market. The prices cannot be beat even at Costco, trust me I have checked.
The bakery makes excellent cakes, muffins and donuts. The produce department offers a great selection of high quality produce and of course the bulk food selection has them all beat. Reserve some time, as the shopping process there is never a quick one, but you will certainly find your grocery bill drop from 30-50% depending on where you currently shop.

Winco is a great place to shop for groceries! Their prices are significantly less than any other grocery stores in the area. They carry a lot of store name/off name brand foods. They do have some name brand items, as well, but you the prices aren't as competitive on those items. They also have great deals on bulk items! One drawback is that they only accept cash for payment, so you need to be prepared.

I love Winco! I only shopped there in college (in Corvallis) and now that I'm out, I just can't go anywhere else and spend the extra money. I do agree that sometime thier produce is a little lacking, but if you go at the right time, you can get everything you could need! Plus, they're open 24 hours a day, so you can go anytime you'd like!!

Winco is a great store to get lower prices. You can get a lot of good deals on everything in the store, which makes Winco a smarter choice when it comes to grocery shopping.. This particular location however, isn't the best. Since it's a really busy area, they seem to be out of stock on lots of items. Plus, security can be really annoying around there since there's a lot of robbery.
