I have been lucky enough to attend some great New Years parties but, Champagne Ball is definetly the best I have been to. It is held at the downtown Portland Hilton Hotel so you can get a room and not have to worry about driving. The party scene is great and the people range from 21 to 75 which is really fun and gives a great atmosphere. If you want to get dressed up and dance the night away without being to crowded and waiting in line forever this is the place to be. The band in the main ballroom is awesome and there are other bands, kareoke and DJ suger to keep the party going. I brought friends and they said it was the best New Years they have ever had as well and will be back again this year. The staff is great and you will not get better party hats, great food and the best countdown and balloon drop that I have ever seen. I will definetly be there this year ready to party like it's 2007!
Pros: Good location, fun people, great food
Cons: None better than any other New Year's in Portland

Founded just last year, President Jamie Powell-Herbold has put on a successful Shakespearean piece and is now working on a few more works for the 2005-06 season. Look for less traditional works from this company as the years go on.

On Hawthorne, you will find stores for Buddahists, Wicccans, feminists...you name it...spiritualism is IN on Hawthorne. Long before any of those stores were even ever thought of, however Agape was (and still is) there.
What is Pentacostalism? Pentacostalism is the mystical part of christianity..the part that raises the dead, speaks in tongues, performs healings, dares to handle snakes, foretells the future, and does in all in the name of the Christian God.
It's a funny little store...three rooms, one for music and "tracts", one for education....which is essentially Bibles and "how to" manuals and trinkets, and a third that sells quality pet food. Guess the right-wingers love their dogs!
When I think of the religious right, I think of uncomfortable clothing, quiet boring Sundays, and lots of fear. This store presents another side of the coin that gives all those other spiritual stores a run for their money for those seeking spiritual power.
Also interesting in this store is the bulletin board that tells all about the underground meetings of those who use the materials found here. It's worth checking out...just check your tarrot cards at the door!

They offer lots of children's and adult bowling leagues and special nights like cosmic bowling with live music and glow in the dark pins. Bring the whole family for some fun time bowling.
They have a great snack bar with a nice menu of burgers, fries, hot dogs, chips, soda and more.
They also have a nice pro shop that caters to all your bowling needs.
The prices are great and the staff are very friendly. It is great family fun.

The selection of instruments is very good from lower priced to higher end. The customer service is sometimes lacking so it is good to have and idea of what you are looking for or bring a polished musician along to help you. They have three stores on the same street, one has acoustic instruments, one is drums and percussion and one is the electric instruments, so there is a lot to look at.

I love going downtown to Apple Music every now and then. They have amazing vintage guitars that I've never seen before, even though they're pretty expensive. They also have guitars I can't find at places such as Guitar Center or Portland Music. Also unlike Guitar Center, the employees are knowedgeable and friendly. Something that seemed a little odd though,w as on some guitars, they were charging more than what they were at other stores. Like this one Dean guitar you can get for $200 at Portland Music, Apple Music sells it for $280. But besides minor things like that, they have an excellent selection of guitars and amps, and it's always fun just to go in and try stuff out. It's great to have such an awesome music store here in Portland!

This is a great place to see concerts. I saw Queensryche here in 2004 and it was one of the best concerts. The sound is just amazing in this venue, there's something special about this place. They also get really good bands playing here, though I've missed out on a lot of them. It's a bit smaller, but that's ok because it makes the music sound better. Definitely see a concert here sometime, you won't regret it.
