Golden Harvesters is one of the longest-standing gleaners in the state. The basis for Golden Harvesters is that you pay a small monthly fee, participate in 6 "harvests" a year (which range from picking apples in someone's yard to picking up bread from a bakery) and then pick up food boxes a few times a week. Talk about savings on your food bill! This is located near St. Johns and near the University of Portland. It is convenient to buses, and offers a real community atmosphere. Aside from places to get food for free, this business is one of the best bangs for your buck in the whole city.
