This park is ok. They have some good rides to ride on and the staff is friendly. They do have a skating rink right next to the amusement park. They have a little area in the skating rink that you can learn to skate in if you don't know how which is a plus. The bad thing about this place is, that its outside and well in Portland, OR anyone who lives there knows that it rains all the time so most of the time its not a great place to go cause its outside. The staff are great.

Oaks Amusment Park has been around forever, and is a Portland landmark. Situated right on the Willamette, it has a great setting for this type of entertainment. We've rented the picnic areas before and they took care of us well. The staff are all pretty happy to be there and it shows in their comfortable demenor. The rates were good, but it's not much of an "amusement park" - one rollercoaster and assorted other carnival type stuff, but fun for the kids, and easy to get to.

I've been going to Oaks Park once a year with family during a promotion they have. While it's not Six Flags, it is a fun place to go to still. They have a lot of good rides, a big slide, go karts, miniature golf and of course the skating rink. The roller coaster is fun to go on, the bumper cars are probably the most popular attraction there. They also happen to be my favorite ride there. The haunted house is cheesy, but it's fun to go through a few times if you need a rest. They also have games where you can win prizes and cotton candy and corn dogs at the food stands. It does feel more geared for younger kids, but anybody of any age can find something fun to do here.

Depending on what you are looking for, Oaks Park can be the perfect place to take your children for the afternoon. If you are used to Six Flaggs or Disneyland, Oaks will be a disappointment. But if you are looking for an afternoon of low key rides at reasonable prices, Oaks is your place. If you look on their website, you can find various discounts. Tuesdays are always 2-for-1 ride bracelet days and many people go to take advantage of the inexpensive prices. But even on regular days, the ride bracelets run 12-14 dollars each. Considering what one could pay at a fair or festival, these are a very reasonable. The games won't break your wallet either. Some are 25 cents. Most are more. They offer many of their prizes for sale in their shops at reasonable prices. The kids won't get the thrill of winning however... Oaks is perfect for young kids up to preteens who looking for a way to pass a few hours.

Oaks Park is the place where a lot of Portlanders grew up going rollerskating and riding on an old roller coaster. They are still in business and going strong. It is a fun place to visit. I don't go there anymore, but when I used to go we had the greatest times! Their roller rink is a blast and very inexpensive (They even have a floor that is curved up and down, fun to skate on!). Check it out if you are in the Portland Area looking for something to do!

Oaks Park has been a family favorite of ours for years and years. We usually go when there is a promotion of some sort, and there usually are plenty to pick from during the summer. Not as glamorous as your Disney parks, but it does have the essentials. Plenty of rides for the younger (10 and under) crowd, but not so many for the adults. Great place to spend the afternoon or day without the huge crowds that most amusement parks have.

For those who don't care for carnivals, there's a roller skating rink. It's a fun atmosphere and smaller than many other amusement parks but entertaining all the same.

Since this is the only thing Portland's got as far as amusement parks go, it'll have to do. But it's really for the younger kids only; thrill-seekers and most over 10 won't find Oaks Park anything to write home about. The county fairs that come into town in summer are far superior to Oaks. As operating costs--and liability insurance premiums--have increased, so have prices. There are still two-for-one days (which, I think, are Tuesdays) but what I remember as being a cheap place to hang out with the kids no longer is such a great deal. The bracelets (which allow entrance on most, if not all, rides for one flat fee) are the way to go. There's a huge roller-skating rink and picnicking--with your own food--is allowed. There's lots of shade and it's a pretty mellow place. Check out their Web site before you go--the latest specials and deals are posted.

Oaks Park is famous for having the oldest still operational roller coaster with a loop the loop on it. It takes guts (or a few drinks) to get on the thing (after all, it's the oldest one in the country...and that can't mean it's also the safest one) and the ride will rattle the teeth right out of your head, but it's all worth it when you see that Travel Channel special about famous roller coasters and you've actually been on one of them. In addition, Oaks Park is one of the only places where you can still roller skate to live organ music, played on an organ suspended over the skating rink. So what are you waiting for? Find yourself a date and head to Sellwood for a once in a lifetime experience that you really only need to have once.
