The title of this review was lifted from the official website for the Queen of Hearts, making a lofty claim (as businesses are known to do) that is supposed to encourage rampant consumerism. I hope they enjoy bleeding as much success out of this inane mantra as they can, because sooner or later the baby boomer anti-computer mentality will cease to exist, along with these carnival sideshow attractions that people like to pass off as legitimate storefronts. Under no circumstances will you not find a better (and cheaper) costume for whatever bizarre needs you have on eBay, the same goes for magic tricks. Chances are you can even freely research astounding magic tricks that don't require expensive kits of cheap plastic cups, rings, and other junk that no one cares about past the first usage. Save yourself the bout of consumer misery and steer clear of this shop, there is absolutely nothing redeeming about it.

I brought my 10 year old son and his friend to this shop the weekend before Halloween to look at magic tricks. When I asked to look at the tricks I was told many times that they were too busy selling costumes to demonstrate magic tricks. I said that is fine, just let me look at the box it came in. This resulted in an argument where the owner told me that he did not have time to sell magic tricks because costumes paid the bill, not magic tricks. I see why. I had asked the owner to help me because the woman behind the magic counter also was also rude and did not want to help me even though I was there and ready to spend money. If I was treated nicely, I might have bought a costume too. Making it worse, there were more employees in the store than customers and many were standing around, yet they all insisted they were too busy to help me even look at the magic. I also noticed that the employees were rude to costume buyers, telling them to hurry up because other people needed to buy costumes. These buffoons need to understand the basics of business: Never turn away a paying customer and treat your customers with respect. The shop is small and crowded, the prices are high, the employees are the rudest I have encountered and I would not recommend this shop to anyone. There are plenty of costume shops in Dallas, but few magic shops. However, I found one in Fort Worth I will be going to and there is one in McKinney also but I won't be back to this rude shop and I recommend the same to everyone else.

I utilize Queen of Hearts for all my costuming needs. I have yet to go in with an idea and not find what I needed. The store is rather small and it is located in downtown Plano, so therefore parking is a problem at times. The staff know where everything is, so don't be fooled by the stuffy look. They have everything you could want and need.

Hello....Well, I'm not really one to get dressed up in costumes and all of that jazz, but recently I had a costume party that I was attending. Seeking out costumes can and usually be a major hassle, but I found at Queen of Hearts that just wasn't the case. The people there were extremely helpful not to mention that they had a great selection of costumes. The selection was so great that I had a hard time deciding on one costume. Finally after so deliberation I picked one and I was the life of the party. So thank you Queen of Hearts, and if you ever need a costume don't waste your time going anywhere else!!!

Queen of Hearts may be my new favorite store when it comes to our 3 children. There is always a book report, a class project, last minute, yet unexpected birthday parties and all of the holidays. I truly appreciate the helpful suggestions I receive when I go there plus they have EVERYTHING. Our twin sons are really into magic these days and no where is there more magic than at Queen of Hearts. Best part of this is, I can always get my husband to take the kids there. He loves this store as much as I do. Thanks for making our lives a lot better. We highly recommend this store located in charming downtown Plano to anyone with kids. This is a reply to Holly Moores review. She was treated very nicely on the phone. When she sent the guy in he was given a choice of two costumes. He picked the one he took home, not us. Holly called back saying she would take this up with the owners son, which she knew from high school. She was very rude and futhermore the owners son has nothing to do with this business, nor does he even work here. When she returned the costume after keepin it the whole weekend it had been worn. I told her I was sorry and that's why we encourage people to come in themself. Nothing that she said was the facts. We have been here for 25 years and always try to keep our customes happy. We also have signs posted saying NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES. Our receipts and rental forms say ALL SALES FINAL. We appreciate your business and look forward to helping you with all your costume and magic needs. Thank You

My husband and I were recently shopping for "Disco" party outfits. We had been to several stores in the DFW area and weren't finding just what we wanted. Friends from Plano suggested we go to Queen of Hearts. Seems it's been there forever. They told us it was their favorite place to rent costumes. The salespeople were helpful and quite funny while helping us. We found a great selection and sizes. We and our costumes rocked at the party. We will be going there again for our next costume party. Pros: In the historic Plano district.

I'm a single mother of two. My sons 5th birthday party was sunday there store is closed so I had to send a friend to pick a red power ranger costume up for me while I was working all day saturday. When i returned home to find the costume I was horrified. The helment was cracked on both sides, the paint was chipping off, and the size of the helment was too big there was no lining or anything to keep the helment in place. I immediately called and tryed to bring the product back. They refused to let me return the same day within 2 hours of picking it up for a full refund. I paid $90 to rent this unusable costume that I was not even able to use. My son was so dissapointed and so was I. I work very hard for my money and feel that I threw $90 away. On monday today when i went to turn it in I asked for a manager and she simply smiled and said sorry tough luck and laughed. I just wanted some kind of money back $5- or whatever but they refused. When I was leaving I noticed a sign on the window stating that they are #1 in quality and reputation. I'm going to call the Better Business Bereau and say they have false advertising. This company must not be doing well if they can honestly ripp people off. I don't recomend anyone to use this place and if you read this call and tell them they need to give me my money back! Cons: Outdated costumes, Bad Quality, Rude and unhelpful staff

-Anytime a retailer doesn't allow the return of unused unopened merchandise, I am wary. This is particularly the case where the sign purporting to state the store policy is only possibly visible on your way out of the store, after you have made a purchase, and is obscured by other stuff. -The staff was relatively helpful in helping me put together an outfit, but once I got home I decided it wasn't for me. I tried to take it back the next day, unused and unopened, but was refused. They wouldn't even offer me store credit. -In my opinion you have to have a pretty low view of what you are offering the public to have this type of hateful policy. You really have to beleive you are overcharging and not offering good service. Also that people will continue to come to your store no matter how badly you treat them. To me this rings of the attitude of someone who knows they are not providing value. -I will not be going back and would warn anyone about shopping there--the store obviously things you can do better elsewhere as they do not stand behind their merchandise or service in any form. Cons: Overpriced, rude, no returns

They have a small sign high over the exit stating their NO RETURN policy. This is only possibly visible on your way out the door. They obviously don't beleive they are giving good value. I tried to return unused unopened items the day after I bought them and they wouldn't take them back or even offer store credit. Not only that but the owner was quite rude about his store policy despite the barely visible sign. I had a nice enough experience with staff helping me out putting together a costume. However, once I got home and started thinking about it I decided it wasn't for me. I tried to take it back the NEXT day and the owner refused. He claimed it was his store policy and pointed to a sign only visible on your way OUT of the store. I will not be going back. The store obviously doesn't have anything you can't get elsewhere for cheaper if they are so nervous about returns. I don't trust stores that don't take stuff back--it implies that they know they are ripping off their customers in quality and in price. Oh, this was unused unopened stuff that I bought and tried to return prior to Halloween. No go. Obviously they don't have faith in their product. PROS: CONS: No Returns; Owner is Rude; Overpriced
