I had heard many nice things about Steve Fields in Plano but we live in McKinney and it was quite a drive to get there. We were definately not disappointed. They were running 15 min. behind on reservations, so we ventured into the Lobster Lounge where a beautiful blond woman was singing a Beatles classic. It was crowded but we found a few stools at the end of the bar. The bartenders were friendly and the martini's right on. Once we were seated in the main dinning room. the server told us the specials and brought us another round of drinks. We both got seafood instead of steaks and both loved the tuna and the sea bass. Both were cooked to our liking and the shrimp cocktail to start was wonderful. We ended the meal with a piece of key lime pie and the serve gave my date a red rose and a cd of love songs. (Nice touch). We played the cd in the car on the way home and loved it. Overall it was a wonderful experience and we will make the drive again soon.

So my coworker's birthday was right around the corner and she wanted a Key Lime Pie (preferably from Houstons which is 55 bucks!!) I looked around and found most places to need 48hr notice and it was still a bit pricy. My boyfriend told me to call Steve fields to see if they had any...called and they said I could come by in the morning and they would have someone here to give it to me (since they don't open until 5) VERY NICE!!! I figured I could just go the night before instead of having someone wait for me...went by and they were just sooo nice! The manager came out and said he had never had someone order a whole key lime pie before but that they make them there fresh and hope we enjoy it. He even gave me a can of Whipp cream to go wtih it. The next day the whole group including the owner of our company were blown away...it was the best KEY LIME PIE EVER! The owner even had two pieces (which he never does) and I told everyone about the great customer service! They exceeded my expectations
Thanks guys you made my friend's birthday a great one!! I'll be coming back soon for dinner :)
Pros: great customer service
Cons: none!

My mom and dad surprised me and my boyfriend with a nice dinner out during my week home from school.
They told me about a steak restaurant that opened right down the street from where we live. It was a Grady's when I was growing up. Wow. This place was exceptional. The bar was crowded and the performer was great. She actually let my boyfriend sit in on a few songs. The dining room was nice with low lighting and comfortable seating. The server was friendly and the g.m. actually picked out a good wine for us. We loved the many choices on the large menu. The crab fingers and lobster pizza were a nice start and I got the Tuna with wasabi and really enjoyed it. Everyone loved the food and my dad ordered a few desserts which we ended up taking home. As I am typing, I am eating a piece of that chocolate cake that my dad ordered for us. Nice.
We will do this again as my dad and boyfriend seemed to get along very well during our meal.

We made a reservation for a Tuesday night to celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary. We arrived on time to find there would be a 10-minute wait. (no apologies) After 15 minutes, we were shown to a booth next to the swinging doors of the kitchen. (We had specifically asked when we made reservations to be seated away from the kitchen.) We went back to the front and asked to speak to the manager. While we waited, one of the girls showed us to a table in the center of the restaurant. The manager came over, and we explained calmly about the wait and the table near the kitchen. His response blew us away: "We're a busy restaurant, so you just have to wait sometimes even if you have a reservation. We gave you one of the best tables in the house. (right next to the kitchen!) What did you expect? An empty restaurant?" At which point, we said: "No, but we expected a more respectful manager." Don't know what his deal was (by the look of it too much red meat), but good luck during this recession. We plan to tell everyone we know to never spend a dime in your restaurant. (I've already told everyone I work with.) Guess the Fields manager has never heard the saying: "The customer is always right." I wouldn't be surprised at all if Steve Fields suffers the same fate as the two or three restaurants in that little area that have gone out of business. By the way, the $200 dinner we had at Ruth's Cris was fabulous.

My husband and I absolutely LOVE this place!!! We always get there a bit early because we like to sit in their Piano bar and have a martini. We're always seated promptly and the wait staff has always been excellent, they know their wine too! The peppercorn filet is my favorite along w/ their smoked mac'n cheese which has a crusted top and is to DIE FOR!! I was very impressed with their wine list which includes Cakebread, Duckhorn and they have more reasonably priced wines as well. The lobster wasn't as great as I'd hoped for, but the steak more than made up for that. We're regulars here and every time we bring another couple along, they become regulars too!!!

I recently went to Steve Fields for a work function. I work for a major corporation headquartered in Plano and my department was very excited about this event. Upon arriving to the restaurant, it was very nice, but it ended at that. I understand that the department I work in isn't comprised of the most fanciful staff, but we're a hard-working group whose role in the corporation is very important. The staff's snobbery towards us was unnecessary and it quite ruined the celebratory mood. Not everyone is exposed to niceties, but every once in a while, everyone is entitled to experience them. The staff belittled the team and it isn't the type of service you'd expect from such an upscale restaurant, especially when they're servicing members of such a large corporation. Besides the dismal service, the steaks were not cooked as requested and the lobster bisque was too thick and more like chowder in consistency. The restrooms were also unkept. The trashcan was overflowing, the lighting was extremely dim and I believe one of the bulbs were flickering, and the area under the mouthwash spout was a mess. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Unless you're wealthy, the staff will treat you very poorly.
Pros: NONE
Cons: Rude, RUDE, RUDE service and messy restrooms

My wife and another couple wanted to try this place for some time but never got around to it until last week for NYEve. What a great choice. The staff was professional and the food was excellent. I started with a lump crab cake which was 90% crab and 10% filling which was exceptional. The lobster bisque was next which is the real thing as far as I am concerned. A surf and turf with grilled asparagus for me and my wife enjoyed a salmon with crab and shrimp along with garlic mashed pots. My chocolate cheesecake and my wifes' key lime pie were to die for.
The overall experience from the free parking, friendly host, romantic atmosphere, good waitress and great food and drinks made for a memorable NYEve celebration.

The only reason I went to this place is because I had two $50 gift certificates. I called in advance to make sure they were still valid, and they said yes. When it came time to paying for the meal, they claimed they couldn't accept either one. The general manager thought he'd do me a favor by taking one. I explained to him my situation and told him i'd like to speak to the owner, to which he replied "Steve doesn't want to deal with this petty stuff. He's leaving soon." The general manager kept refusing to comply, and I said I go to the back myself. He beligerently told me right in my face that he'd kick me out of the restaurant so fast if I dared such a thing, then told his hostess to call the cops as a scare tactic. I said please do, after which he told his hostess not to call anymore! Anyway, long story short, they only accepted one of the certificates. I'm starting to think a lot of it was because my two friends were the only African Americans there. The food was average at best. I'd choose Nick & Sams, Pappas, or Three Forks over Steve Field's any day.
Please watch out, everyone, or they'll try to screw you over too.

We frequent Steve Fields for many reasons but mainly the consistent food and service. We have not been there one time when the servers were not friendly and the food wasn't exceptional. The managers always say hello and Steve quite often comes by to say hello. Try the new Blue Crab fingers for a appetizer. I have told many of my friends about this place and they always report back to me with rave reviews. The lounge is pretty cool also.
