The most rapidly growing youth sport in the US is ....BOWLING! And not at those mega-sized, mutli-purpose national chains, but at places like Plano Super Bowl (PSB). PSB is home to the Plano Senior, Plano East, and Plano West bowling teams. Stop by any week night after 6pm and you'll find the place swamped with league bowlers of all ages. On Saturday morning, you can watch 3 leagues with children aging from about 5 to 21 competing for trophies or scholarship money.
So, why would they choose an old, smaller facility like PSB when there's a Mane Event nearby? I could paraphrase a former President and say, It's the lanes, stupid, which are meticulously maintained (unlike those big box guys), but it's also strong programs, reasonable prices, and great support staff.
Although it's old, the owners substantially updated the entire facility in 2007, including flat screen TV displays and updated computer scoring. The food is better than it has to be and reasonably priced. PSB is a non-smoking facility now and is open 24/7.
PSB has great summer programs for children - three lessons plus a bowling ball and bag for just about the retail cost of the ball, with a party in August.
Over the past several years, PSB has become something of a second home to my teen, even though other facilities are much closer. It just feels like family. The one-time bowler (check out weekday burger bowls) may not sense it, but stop by a few times or check out a league and you'll understand why places like PSB endure in the shadow of those other guys.

This bowling arena has been here for many years and you can tell it's an old building. They've kept it in as good shape as you an expect and the lanes are in good condition. The electronic displays are still the old style and don't compare with the newer, flashier displays at other bowling places in the area. Something I've never understood though is when we go, it's very busy... and they'll have 6 lanes on the far left blocked off with no one on them. I just don't understand.
PROS:
CONS: Why close lanes when people are waiting?

I have been coming here for years. It is your typical bowling ally, nothing fancy. If you want the real deal, come to Plano Super Bowl. We also had a kids birthday party here and I found it to be a great value. The shoes I had last time were very warn and uncomfortible, but that could have just been my pair. This place can get very busy in the evenings and on the weekends. The cafe has so-so food. I suggest smuggling in your own. All in all, it's a good place if you want to go bowling.

Just a block or so from Dairy Queen, Plano Super Bowl is the place that the whole family can have fun. It's a non-smoking facility, it's not new, so don't expect it to be spotless. Since it's been there for a long time, it's got its wear and tear. Nonetheless, it's a good place with good prices for a bowling night, and you can also grab snacks and light 'fast-food' type dinner there as well. I've only been there at night, not sure about how daytime bowling is at this bowling alley.

I had my daughter's 5th birthday party here and she and her friends had fun. There are no private rooms, the kids have cake at the tables by the bowling lanes. The kids bowl (if they're young, they get bumpers so no one's bowling ball goes into the gutter!). The birthday kid gets a decorated bowling pin (a half of a pin when we went) with her name on it. The place is old and doesn't have as much entertainment options as the newer places.
PROS: Price, entertaining
CONS: No private rooms, older
