My daughter has drug me to this place a few times when we have been in Oakland. It is very dirty and looks like a college hang out. With that being said, I always get the fries, that it like a complete meal in its self. The place is greasy but the food is great.

From what I understand this place was a traditional old style hot dog shop. Over the years it has turned into a neon-lit after the bars close spot to eat some fries and cheap pizza. The place is pretty dirty, and there is grease all over the place. But if you have a hankering for some fries, this is the place to go. An extra large order will come out in the shape of a fryer basket! Add some cheese and ranch dressing and you have yourself a party! Oh by the way, they still sell hot dogs, and they aren't all that bad.

Don't get me wrong I love to eat at this place. The prices are cheap but the place is dirty. The place is open to early morning after the bars close. My friends and I used to come here after the bars. The ground level area is where they sell the food. I agree the fries are the best and they give you so many. They sell a ton of other greasy other food items including pizza and chicken. There is a bar on the top floor with a bunch of tables. During the lunch time it is nice to get your food down stairs and then take it upstairs to eat and the the atmosphere is pretty low key. It is a great hang out for the college students.

When I first came to Pittsburgh, I loved the Original Hot Dog Shop, or the 'O' as it's called. You have to try the O-fries...just get a small because they're ENORMOUS! We walked in and order 2 larges for several of us once (before we were familiar with them) and everybody in the shop stopped what they were doing to gape at us. (fortunately, we switched to 1 large which was still WAY too much food). The O is nice and cheap. Unfortunately, I seem to have exhausted my tolerance for their food because just the smell of their fries make me queasy now. It's worth the experience if you've never eaten here before, though. There's one in Oakland on Forbes and one in CMU's UC.
