As soon as you open the door, you are greeted by the smell of the freshly made waffle cones. Then you see the coolers filled with all different types of delicious ice cream. They have a lot more than your standard chocolate and vanilla. Their chocolate chip cookie dough is delicious! It has really large chunks of cookie dough. I also like their birthday cake. It has sprinkles and icing and cake mixed into the vailla ice cream. By far, my favorite, is the reverse chip. It's chocolate ice cream with white chocolate chips. It's amazing!! They also have some great sorbets that are perfect on a hot summer evening. Unfortuantely, especially during the summer, it can get really crowded with the line going out the door. Also, since they can make more flavors than they have space to hold them, some of the more unique flavors, like reverse chip, aren't always available.

Old fashioned & amazing! Quality is great. Not many places around like this anymore. All are just chain stores.. Great. Must go!

and the ice cream is even better. Although nestled in Oakland - if you feel like standing in line with college students (and no they don't bite) then you will not be discouraged by the wonderful ice cream. Tons of flavors to chose from and the homemade waffle cone is to die for. Considering Coldstone creamery will cost you 11 for 2 ice cream cones...skip it and go to Dave and Andy's - cheaper and better ice cream....they also have great frozen yogurt for those watching their waistline.

While I can't think of too many BAD ice cream shops, Dave and Andy's stands out as a particularly good one. They have a nice selection of flavors. One of my favorite things about Dave and Andy's is that they put M&M's at the bottom their cones. They are definitely the best ice cream in Oakland.

Dave and Andy's has been around for ages and is a local favorite. Rated among the top 10 ice cream places in the country by USA Today magazine, the flavors change on a daily basis, and all of the ice cream is home made. Well worth the line often extending out the door on a hot summer day.

Dave and Andy's is a great place for ice cream. There are over a dozen flavors served every night, and more are cycled through as others run out. No two trips have the same offerings! There is ice cream and sorbet of all flavors. The waffle cones are made at Dave and Andy's and contain an M&M at the bottom. Custom orders can be made at request and in quantity. Don't expect to eat your ice cream on site, though, you'll have to take it to go as the store is very small.

I am a student at university of pittsburgh and let me tell you how great it is to have such a quality ice cream place so nearby. Dave and Andy's is located in Oakland. You can easily park on street in front of the shop, or you can take the bus and walk over (if you are really desperate !). The moment you step in the shop, you will experience the wonderful smell of fresh made waffle cones. Yup, they make there own waffle cones and if you get lucky, your cone might be warm because it was made 2 minutes ago. They have close to about 15 crazy flavors including: birthday cake, cookie dough... and so on. A big waffle cone and a big scoop costs around $3.00. And do you know what surprise comes with each waffle cone? You wanna know? You REALLY wanna know? OK, I will tell you, the bottom of the waffle cone has M&Ms.
