X Fitness in Shadyside is in the heart of Shadyside on Walnut Street. It's a bare bones fitness club with cardio machines downstairs and free weights upstairs. There are also weight machines upstairs, and I believe there might be gimmick types exercise programs held upstairs too--spinning, etc. This is what you would expect from the yuppie crowd that inhabits the surrounding areas. Few students, mostly "upwardly mobile" middle income bluish white collar folk. There are no courts for racket sports and no sauna. Free week long passes--ask about them before you join. If you're looking for something more upscale get sponsored at the River's Club downtown.
