Forwardlanes is my home away from home. It's a beautifully maintained local alley. I love the owners. Reasonably priced beer and food. Great selection of house bowling balls, comp...

Worst

For a bowling alley, Forward Lanes is what you can expect -- 1970s/80s styling, stagnant smoky air, and smelly shoes. Trafficked by young college kids, the alley has an upbeat atm...

Worst service! Especially on Monday evening! 4/29/2014

Place is good, but service is awful ! Kind a racist stuff! Never go back there! more

What you would expect... 8/20/2005

For a bowling alley, Forward Lanes is what you can expect -- 1970s/80s styling, stagnant smoky air, and smelly shoes. Trafficked by young college kids, the alley has an upbeat atmosphere that provokes interaction at the small alley. Be advised that this isn't an alley with a lot of places to lounge; nor do they have decent food or drink offerings. more

Fantastic Experience 8/19/2005

Ever since I started going to college in Pittsburgh i've been a devoted patron of Forward Lanes. They have inexpensive prices, a great staff, and an unbeatable atmosphere. On the weekends they usually have great specials and pumping music. Students from Pitt and CMU can always be found here. Highly recommended. more

"vintage bowling" in old-school alley 8/17/2005

Forward Lanes probably hasn't been remodelled in 30 years. In some ways that's not so cool, but it actually gives the place some character. The ball returns are much more interesting than their modern counterparts. Forward Lanes if a great place to sit down, relax, and bowl. Prices are low and the location is convenient to bus lines and street parking. The entrance is not grand, so keep an eye out for it. more

knock pins on forward 8/16/2005

I suppose Forward lanes isn't really special when other lanes today are decked out with karaoke, "bistro" food, 80's night, and blacklights for "space" bowling. But you know what? You don't really need gimmicks to have a good time bowling. Forward has all you need: Yuengling on draft (Vitamin Y), tasty hotdogs, and clean socks available for purchase. Notes: you'll probably get yelled at if you bring beer too close to the scoring machines. more

Good location; generic bowling place. 8/16/2005

The Wissman Forward Lanes are located right off Murray in the heart of Squirrel Hill. The lanes are a bit tricky to find since they're UPSTAIRS. The place is pretty small with roughly 20 lanes, but the price is right and it's convenient. Pretty clean but not a lot of styling. They serve beer and hotdogs, which is always nice. There's no full hard bar, but that's probably for the best. They have specials so call to check it out. They have a shoe rental (obligatory), so bring a pair of socks with you so you don't get a foot disease. more

Forward Lanes Bowling 8/11/2005

Forward Lanes is located in Squirrel Hill. They've recently had some renovations which improved them from 2 stars to 3 stars in my opinion. They're still kind of dingy and cramped but they're convenient if you're at CMU or Pitt. It's a fun place to hang out even if the equipment isn't that great. more
