I was really taken aback by the sales person who when I said hello, didn't answer me until I said hello a second time (she was not busy, there was not another soul in the store). When I asked if they gift wrapped, she said yes, but it wouldn't be impressive. I asked if the candy was fresh or had a date, and she didn't know. If I hadn't been rushed, I would have gone elsewhere, which is what I suggest anyone else do - perhaps to the other chocolate store in Shadyside.

Yuppie business? How is that rating its quality? The chocolate and candy at this store is unique and delicious, with a ton of variety. If you asked the associates, they would have told you about their homemade chocolates, which they make at another location and bring in. Next time, do you research before you negatively comment on a store.

Yuppie business? I think not. Every time I have gone to The Chocolate Moose, either in Squirrel Hill or Shadyside, I have received nothing but impeccable service. Since when is wanting quality a 'yuppie-only' ideal?
The establishment carries a lot more than just Godiva - They also carry Dagoba, a line of amazing organics, and my personal favorite, Vosges. Their case pieces are usually one-of-a-kind creations (Like the peanut butter and white chocolate 'lady finger' truffle for Halloween, complete with a painted red fingernail) and are exquisite and unique.
If you're a serious chocoholic looking for an amazing gourmet experience, then this shop is for you. But if price is a factor and quality doesn't matter, then please just keep trolling the candy isles at Wal-Mart and leave the serious chocolate (and the reviewing) to others.

The Chocolate Moose in Shadyside is another yuppie business. If you think Godiva chocolates are good quality, then this place is for you. They have a good selection of this brand driven, hype product. The sales people aren't very nice (or helpful) and are looking to upsell at every corner. If you need quick gift for someone who isn't particularly discerning, this is where to go in a pinch. They also sell some homemade chocolate--whether they actually make it is anyone's guess. It's conveniently located in the middle of Walnut Street near the William Penn tavern.
