Before Starbucks was big 3/17/2006

The Beehive was buzzing long before Starbucks made its mark on Pittsburgh. This unique coffee house relies on its eclectic decor and quirky atmosphere to bring in patrons of all ages. However, when I've been in here, I can't help but wonder when the beatniks and their bongos will be coming in to join me. The coffee is okay, but not amazing. The atmosphere is worth it, but the coffee isn't. more

Unique Place 12/14/2005

The people watching alone with worth coming here for. They get all types here and the decor is outrageous. You can sit and just look around for an hour or so at all the stuff they have hanging on the walls and from the ceiling! They have good coffee (for great coffee go to the Starbucks down the street) and good desserts. I took my niece to dinner for her 18th birthday. Too young to hit the bars in the Southside afterwards I took her here. She really enjoyed it. It was a different experience for her. more

good dessert, good coffee 9/22/2005

The Beehive is a great place to go if you want to have a good evening out with friends. They serve some of the best coffee in the city and they combine this with some of the best service as well. They are located in the historical South Side district of Pittsburgh and are easy to get to. more

Cool Place 8/19/2005

This is a great place to hang out on the South Side. It is a coffee house but it is so much more. They serve hot and cold coffee and non coffee drinks. They also have a nice selection of desserts and even some sandwiches. They also have computers for use. The atmosphere is a great eclectic blend of items that are reminiscent of the 60's and 70's. Right down to the disco ball. You could spend hours just looking at all the stuff they have in here. It is great. Be warned this is not your mother's coffee house. An interesting blend of people frequent this place which is part of the charm nd appeal. It also has some of the best coffee I have had. It sure beats your national chain and big name coffee shops. more
