I really can't say enough about Ofer Minka and Uptown Jewelers. I first heard about Uptown on the radio. My girlfriend and I both needed watch batteries. Once we went into the store, we didn't want to leave. Ofer and everyone who works in his store are so welcoming. Once they get to know you you become family. Ofer knows his customers - what they like, what looks best on them. He can tell you what you'll love before you see it. Ofer designed a wedding band and engagement ring set. This set sat in his case for quite a while. Whenever my girlfriend and I went into the store of course I'd try it on and get palpitations. He kept saying "Darling, that ring will be for you". Of course I just laughed and said "I wish". Needless to say what he had predicted came true. Two years later, with the entire store in tears, that beautiful ring was given to me by my now wonderful husband, Bill. Whether it is a strand of pearls, an ankle bracelet, diamond studs or an exquisite solitaire you can find it at Uptown. Ofer carries distinctive, one-of-a-kind, eye-catching, jaw dropping quality pieces at a reasonable price. You can rest assured that when you walk into his store you will definitely find the piece(s) you want. Guarantee, you won't go anywhere else. Love you Ofer, Bunny and Limor.

J Brown has an amazing selection of diamonds and gems! We went in to look for my engagement ring and was given great service. We were even invited back to a special after hours party and sale. The sale was catered and we had a blast. They want their customers to feel comfortable in the store. I have heard they even loan out pieces to their better customers.

I go to this place all the time to get clothes for Bar and Bat Mitzvahs. I always find what I'm looking for in great quality, even though it is always expensive (unless it's on sale). This store is pretty small, but they have a lot of clothes, shoes, and earings. They even have 2 dressing rooms both up and downstairs. The person who owns the store is very pushy, but you can just ignore her.

Terra Firma, off the beltway in the heart of Pikesville, is the Baltimore-area's most comprehensive store for jewelry making supplies. They carry a lot of tools for metalworking and bead stringing (although not many beads) and stock a good supply of precious and semi-precious metals. Their book selection is decent. They even have tools and books about gem cutting.
The store is an old-fashioned kind of store where the proprietor knows where everything is but customers can't always find what they want--things are in piles and stuck all around the place. There's lots of variety but only one or two of each item so the particular item you want might be sold out when you're there. The manager is very nice and helpful.
The store itself is not easy to find. You have to weave through parking lots off of Reisterstown Road opposite Boston Market to get to the store. The entrance to the store is semi-concealed at the back of a building, but it's worth the trip if you want to make jewelry--Michael's doesn't sell stuff like this.

i love this store! they have designer clothes you can't find anywhere else, like nieves lavi, daftbird and loeffler randall. they also have great shoes and handbags. i've always had great experiences shopping here and the sales girls always greet me by name. happy shopping!

I love going to Glenda's to get my hair done. Every since the first day I have always has a sense of belonging. Most importantly, you do not sit and waste the day away there because the stylist is overbooked. I can get an appointment at almost anytime and I happly satisfied with my hair. Which I might add is in great condition since I started going there!

Promotions is a great place to go if you like designer brands acustom clothes and are on a budget! They have all sorts of brands from L.E.I. to Calvin Klein to SEVEN to Armani, and everything is cheaper than it is in a department store. I recently got a $130 pair of jeans for $7 and a $360 suit for $15. While their regular prices are affordable, the best time to go is during their sales when already discounted merchandise is up to an additional 75% off. They have children's and men's clothes, but the store is particularly good for woman. For females they have a teen department, petite department and a plus size department in addition to the normal clothes. Humngous slelection with custom apperal as well as the above mentioned brands.
