If you have someone coming into town or just want a romantic get away go to this place! The rooms are so cool, they are done in a retro-style. The windows use a large sliding painting instead of a curtain. There is always something happening there. Lots of fun!!
They also have a fabulous restaurant!

I booked this hotel through Travelocity and got double charged. Once from Travelocity on my business credit card and then again on my personal credit card. Neither company is easy to work with to get a refund for the double charged amount. The hotel was cool but dirty, had a loud pool party area that carried on well into the late late night, is in a low-income neighborhood, and nothing worked properly. All the air-conditioners in the rooms were broke (which is what the front desk staff said when I called to tell them my AC was not working properly) resulting in me turning my AC to 55 degrees just to get it to turn on, then having it run louder than a train wreck all night to put out a measly amount of cool air on a 100+ degree July night. When checking in the front desk tole me they gave my reservation away which was a double bedroom, and made me stay in a single bedroom, with my co-worker - which as a married woman was an extremely awkward situation. And when I bring it up to them today after I called about the double booking charge they first told me that both the King rooms and Double rooms are standard so Travelocity can't tell the difference when making a reservation, and that they did my a favor by upgrading me to a king room. Obviously that's a contradiction (first a king bed and double room are standard, then the king room is an upgrade?), and I still have my Travelocity email confirmation which clearly stated a double room with 2 beds was reserved. + I remember clearly being able to choose which room type I wanted online. I wouldn't recommend staying at this hotel or having to go through this experience to my worst enemy. This hotel is an apartment complex that was rehabbed into a hotel, complete with the car port parking, the staff is rude and needs a lesson is quality customer service.

Just went to Dinner at the Clarendon for Valentine's and it was fantastic. "C" is their logo and aptly so,--minimalist but retro style colors and stripes make this place pop!
They have done major alterations to the pool area and all that water falling over that glass just made it look magical.
It's interesting how they leave the curtains open on the windows of the unused hotel room--It creates a kind of display case for the retro style furniture pieces and accessories.
The staff at the restraunt was very attentive and seemed happy to greet you, they quickly made arrangements so I did not have to sit in the middle of the dining room but instead on the side which I prefer.
The food still has somewhat to go, I had lamb chops with stuffing soaked in an excellent spice mixture with cranberry sauce and a flower garnish.
The lamb was not completely done but tasty nonetheless, for any of you lamb experts, I think you will agree lamb is one of the hardest meats to cook as you have to get it just right.
Nothing beats the prices though, I had 2 entrees, 2 glasses of wine, 2 beers and dessert for only $59.00??
Then we went to the rooftop which was equally brilliant.
I really can't think of any other hotel or building in the uptown Phoenix area that has that type of rooftop entertainment. They have DJ's spinning there from 4PM to 9PM Thursday through Sunday I am told--A great place for happy hour adoring the Phoenix skyline and magnificent sunsets.
Cheers to you "C" you rock and put some glam to our uptown area.

The clarendon definitely has a different feel. It has a central location, abstract appeal, and free internet... Lacks some of the smaller benefits such as a fridge in the rooms. The food / bar are rather expensive (spent 12 for two eggs - two pieces of bacon - and two pieces of toast) and h it up about $50.00 on the tab for three drinks and a shot. The staff are friendly and courteous.
Pros: location
Cons: price of food and drinks

This hotel is a real find - I travel frequently for business and have rarely come across a hotel that has both style and exceptional service. The staff was knowledgable, friendly and abundantly helpful. The bed was delightful - one of the best nights of rest I've had on the road.
Pros: More than your standard boutique hotel

If you're staying in downtown Phoenix, look no further than the Clarendon. It's worth it for the down pillows and mattress alone! They leave chocolate on your pillow that you can enjoy while you're in your Japanese Kimono robe. It's an excellent deal. I got a regular room for about $100 and I think the suites aren't much more expensive. You'll definitely enjoy your stay as you drift off to dreamland.

Great value for the money. Felt like I could come here to party and also take care of business. The staff were both friendly and knowledgable of the Phoenix area. I will stay here again.
