Fashion Bug of Mayfair is a nice store to go to if your looking for anything in plus sizes. They have everything you need from business attire to bathing suits. Also, you can find all the accessories you need. The only negative thing i can say about Fashion Bug is their prices. They are outrageous and the quality of the clothing is not very good for the price you pay.

Becker's is a school supply store for both teachers and parents. Becker's carries a variey items that are good for students of all ages. They also carry books and teaching items for all grade levels and all subject areas. Many of the teachers that I know, including myself, shop here for classroom decorations, teaching aides, student rewards and manipulatives. And, as a tip... any teacher would love a gift certificate from Becker's for any occasion.

Well, Square on Square doesn't really sound like a Chinese food place, but that's what it is. The location is great, right in the heart of Center City, Philadelphia. The decor is very nice, the price is right, and the food is really good.
My favorite dish is the Chicken and Eggplant in Garlic Sauce. Yum. It's a bit hot but not burn your mouth off spicy. My friend Liz always orders the Chicken and Asparagus, which she swears is great. The waiters work really hard at this place. There's an upstairs and a downstairs and they are constantly running up and down those stairs. We always marvel at just how hard they work and try to tip a little extra. I mean, try and imagine yourself climbing those stairs 300 times a day carrying heavy trays!
Lunch gets really crowded at this place. You either need to get there before 12:00 or after 1, or expect to wait a bit for a table. The service is usually pretty quick, though, so you shouldn't have to wait too long.
Overall, a great place for eat-in Chinese food.

This place has great pizza. The service is kind of spotty. Sometimes they seem to have only one waitress for the entire place which can really slow things down. Also they cook the pizzas in a real brick oven and the oven can only hold so many pizzas at once so sometimes a large group won't be able to get their food all at the same time.
The salads are OK but really the pizza is the star here. It's thin crust and the crust is really crispy. If you don't eat the whole thing, take the left-overs home and eat them cold the next day.
They don't take credit cards but they do have an ATM right inside the restaurant. They have some strange hours (they are open for lunch on some days but not others, I think) so you might want to call before you head over. I don't think they deliver.

I've been on this for both dinner and the midnight cruise. I have to say that the dinner cruise was 100% better. The midnight cruise was over crowded and they ran out of snack foods. The drinks on both were way over-priced and watered down. The dinner cruise was nice but that might have been because the group I was with reserved the whole floor. The deck areas were clean, there was adequate parking, but it does take a long, long time to load on board. Great scenery of both NJ, and Phila from the river.

I have had a couple of out of town visitors stay at the Alexander Inn, including my parents and siblings. This is a very stylish "boutique" hotel that was recently remodeled. It is situated in the Washington Sq West area of center city which is convenient for people to explore most of center city on foot. The rooms are average size (read: small if you're used to big chains), with simple but nice furniture. Breakfast is included. More importantly, the staff is very attentive and was able to facilitate special visits to historic houses for my folks. The price of the hotel is in between budget, and what you would pay for the Marriott or Loews

Everything that has been said about this store is true. Great food fairly cheap. My issue with this store in particular is that even though it is in the center of a very walkable city, they still put the entrance facing the parking lot at the back of the building. The store could have had an entrance on market street that would have been much more pedestrian friendly. I don’t know why they make us walk through that shady alley and by the dumpsters to get into the store.

Paper on Pine is a nice little card and stationary store that always seems to have the perfect card, no matter the occasion. It also usually has a table of nifty gift items that are a little out of the ordinary and I always end up spending more than I anticipated there. If you like hip, trendy cards and items, this is a great place to start. They also do wedding invitations and such, and the people who work there are really nice and helpful.

More
Sound of Market is a unique record/electronic store on 11 Street half a block from Market walking towards Chestnut street. They have a wide variety of electronics for your home and car, but the main focus is their wide variety of music. Unlike big record stores that mostly carry pop and commercial success music, SOM has a big selection of Jazz, Gospel and Dance music. You will find the hottest Urban sound being played in the store and if you are a DJ, you can buy 12" vinyls and import CDs. The sales associates are very knowledgeable of the different genres and you can even hum a song if you don't know the title. They will try to help you find the particular CD. They also have listening station where you can sample the entire CD before buying which lacks in the big music chain stores.
