Allied Hobbies is a great hobby shop. They carry everything that is needed to build models of just about anything, including cars, boats and planes. The model kits that they sell are super and always look really good when completed. This store has so much in stock that you have to be careful when walking through the aisles. They have a fairly large selection of remote control cars too. If you're just looking for something that is arts and crafts related they probably will have it.

My husband is a member of the bowling league. This is a nice family place to bowl, But one big draw back, is the smoking. The place fills up quickly with lots of smoke and my husband comes home smelling like an ashtray on league nights. But, this is a very fun, low cost way to have a family night out. Very Friendly and lots of other activites for the kids.

Artifax is a well known Northeast Philly institution. Artifax is a smoke shop as well as a smokers dream come true. You will most likely find whatever it is that you're looking for here, if not just ask and someone will help you get it. They have a rather extensive collection of Zippo lighters that is great for the collector. Be warned that this shop is small and the space can get tight.

Don't be fooled by the dressed up actors and the building facade - the Betsy Ross House was largely reconstructed for the Bicentennial in 1976. Regardless of how much is original, how much is recreated and how much is "of the period", the experience is a good one.
Walk through the colonial house to learn more about Betsy and what her life was like when she was asked to sew a flag for our new nation (the flag that is often associated with her name is not actually the design she used as it took a while for the nation to have 13 states...and then the number jumped to 16 fairly quickly). Check out the first floor exhibit of works sewn by her descendants -- apparently the talent was passed on!
Cute gift shop and frequent (free) performances in the courtyard at the entrance.
There is an entry fee (minimal) and an audio guide is available.

Buffalo Billiards is a laid back bar with billiards in Philadelphia. It is a good place to go when you want a more casual bar, but not a dive. There are couches around and it is a great place to sit and talk to people. It's not too loud or crowded. If you play pool it is a great choice and you never have to wait too long for a table.

I have gone here with my husband. They have Heated range stalls in the winter, plenty of parking and there are never lines! Although I do not golf off of the tee's, I did play minature golf. It is a very nice family fun evening. They also have battting cages and a small ice cream parlor. Prices are reasonable, so it can be an outing for the entire family. It will make you feel like you are on vacation in your own backyard.

I found this place by accident one day while looking for another store. It's off the beaten path behind another shopping center, but still easy to get to. I was pleasantly surprised by the selection, and the accessories. Prices were high, but it's about average for this area. The help was ok, I think they were just busy and trying to get everyone taken care of promptly.

Bowling is a lot of fun and not as competitive as other sports. A bunch of my buddies come by her to have a good time. They have good drinks and food. And bumpers are available if you are not a skilled bowler. It isn't terribly smoky here so i can stay for hours. They also have bowling leagues you can sign up for as well. This place is cheaper than other bowling alleys and much nicer as well. Fun time guaranteed.
