This apartment building is great. I have lived there before and can say that it is the best that you can find in UC. Most of the apartments complexes, closer to the drexel campus, are dumpy or overrun by kids. The Courts is on the expensive side, but you get a 24/7 door person. Good maintenance. The alarm does not go off every week (like many student dominated apartment buildings). There are not many drunken parties, and for the most part it is quiet there.

When i initially contacted this palce, I didn't get a call back and was a little angered by that but after talking with the recptionist, I found an agent who helped me buy my home. The agent, Francie is really great. She is always easy to reach and always calls me back in a reasonable amount of time. She is patient and I highly recommend HER to anyone that is looking to buy or sell a house.
In my transaction, she was both the buyers and sellers agent and I feel she acted as professionally as possible in that situation. Thier office is located on Frankford Ave. Parking isn't that bad in the evening, but if you go in the early, mid, or late afternoon, be prepared to search for parking or park illegally. The parking is the only downside in my opinion.

The Phoenix apartments offer one of the most luxurious accommodations in Philadelphia. Often compared to a hotel, the Phoenix offers a fully equipped fitness center, business center, private conference rooms, club rooms and rooftop terrace for parties, 24-hour concierge services, and valet parking. A restaurant/bar, a salon, and a Starbucks are also on premise. However, all those amenities do not come cheaply. A studio starts at $1350/month and larger units go up from there exponentially. The building is connected to a public station which is extra nice during the winter time. Leases are usually twelve months long, but always negotiable. Additionally, they features specials on a monthly basis – so ask!

2400 Chestnut Apartments feature many ammenities - a concierge and garage attendant 14 hours a day, a gym that is also open round the clock, a shuttle to University City and Center City in the mornings and afternoons, an on-site garage offering the cheapest parking in Center City, and free laundry on every floor. The building has studios, one bedrooms, and two bedrooms although the two bedrooms can be really hard to come by since people tend to live here for years on end. The building is heavily populated by Penn professional students, medical residents, and professionals. The rents are definitely on the high end as are the electric bills (electricity is not included, water is). More information is available at www.2400chestnut.com.

Very large rooms, very affordable, located right across the street from City Hall, a very easy to access hotel very close to public transportation and most of Center City Philadelphia's sites. The lobby is a bit small but the service and rooms make up for it. Like most Residence Inns, the rooms have mini kitchens, sitting areas and bedrooms. They usually have a very competitive rate for center city. Make sure to check this out if you are traveling with your family and are looking for a little more space in your hotel.

If you’re looking to rent a place around University City there are a couple of companies you should look through. Campus Apartments owns many of the buildings in University City. Covering an area ranging from about 38th street to 50th street, Campus Apartments has a number of places to choose from. Their prices vary with location and number of bedrooms, but it’s really reasonable for the University City area. Also, not all the utilities are always included, so be prepared to pay an electricity or gas bill if the rental calls for it. The main concern with Campus Apartments is that they are really bad “landlords.” If you call with a problem (heating, water leakage, structural damage, etc.), they don’t respond quickly. In fact, they may take up to several months to actually come and fix it. The rentals are pretty good and their prices are fair; just be extremely wary of their maintenance if you intend to rent though them.

I just finished renting from JMH for 12 months. They are rude, unprofessional, belittling, and difficult to deal with. Dealing with JMH was a nightmare, no matter what the problem was. The secretaries are nasty and rude and the head realtor is a pompous jerk. Phone calls and emails were not returned, matters were not handled in a professional manner, and they try to charge you for ever little thing. Instead of having a walk through when the lease was up, we were told to drop off keys at the office and then were told our deposit would be mailed to us "by the end of the month." I can only imagine the ridiculous things that JMH will charge us for (they even told us that if we didn't replace some light bulbs, they would have to "hire contractors to come do it at our expense"--are you kidding me?!). I hope JMH goes out of business and no one has the misfortune of renting from them.
