In college i learned much more information on the civil war than in high school. My professor really encouraged all of us to go to this museum, even offering extra credit. The price was really cheap about five dollars so it was worth the extra credit! I was really amazed to see all the history in the museum. I thought the photos were really interesting as was some of the body armor. The truth is that i should have came here a long time ago I learned so much about our country.

I come here all the time for so many things! First of all they have great produce last summer they had the best tasting plouts. I love the meat shop because they sell specialty meats like quail and duck legs. They also have a many cheese shops as well for purchasing the real goos stuff. The have this dutch market where they sell all sorts of baked goods. Anything you want to eat you will find here, they have sold food, cheese steaks, Chinese food, Italian anything you can think of! I would recommend coming early to the market because some of the vendors get sold out very quickly.

Kelly Drive parallels I-76 and offers an alternative to the freeway for other cars (avoid rush hour traffic by taking this route) and outdoor recreationalists. The trail is perfect for joggers, strollers, bicyclists, and people with dogs. It parallels the river so you can take in the scenery and the old boathouses on Boathouse Row. In the mornings, you can see people out rowing on the river or take part yourself. The trail goes all the way to Valley Forge if you are interested in a rather extensive day of biking - bring a picnic lunch and enjoy scenic Philadelphia as you re-enact the route taken by George Washington (three-cornered hat optional).

Franklin institute is a good place to bring kids for a few hours of entertainment. The kids will find it quite fascinating to be able to walk through a giant heart or go see how educational stuff can be mixed with fun for all ages. There is also an Imax theater inside the facility.

If you are visiting Philadelphia, you must go down to South Philadelphia and walk around the Italian Market, that is on 9th Street between Washington and Christian Streets. You can buy cheap and fresh produce on the street and check out the butcher shops that have been there for decades catering to the neighborhood. At the end of the Italian Market you will see Anthony's to your right, which is a great place for a drink/snack dessert. On Christian street you will find a noodle factory and an Italian bakery. The market is open daily all year round.

This is a great place to visit and walk along in nature. The visitor center has nice displays and some are hands on so kids and big kids (adults) will enjoy them.
They also have trail guides, you can chose from a few different walks some are longer. There are lots of neat plants and animals to see. Turtles sun themselves along rocks and logs in the water and there are all kinds of birds. You can see deer and fox too. Binoculars are helpful for seeing animals in the distance. A camera is great to have too! Bring bug repellent and sunscreen and a picnic lunch and enjoy the great outdoors with the city skyline in sight.

Few know that the rooftop garden is open to the public. You can enter and go to the garden whether or not you are paying to see a show at the center. The garden has a great view of the Kimmel Center's amazing architecture. It gets fairly warm being so high up in the center. Go to the elevator towards the broad street side and hit the button for rose garden. Staff can also help you find the correct entrance to the Garden.

This is a really great place to see shows. Their bathroom is even included in the gallery space. They also have workspace and training sessions. I was at an opening there and they had a good spread of food and a very fun atmosphere. Again, the bathroom gallery space is something I have yet to find elsewhere in Phila.

Library is for more than books. These days, the Free Library carry DVDs and CDs also, yup....forget going to Blockbusters, if you want to watch a movie, the library has a good selection of movies. Depending on which branch you go, the selection and availability can vary. The main branch on 19th and Vine sees a lot of traffic, therefore, while they have a large selection, the most popular or recent titles may not be available. Try one of the other over 50 branches. Just make sure you return them on time, or else they are not so free....
