Drove in excited to taste the pizza that is supposed to highly rated. The waitress was rude and gave horrible service. If they don't know you as a regular they totally give you bad service and basically ignore you during your whole meal. The waitress had a rude attitude, she took our order and then never came back to check on us or offer us refills. She would talk to other customers who were regulars minutes at a time while we waited for service. Getting a box and our check was like asking for a million dollars. The pizza is overrated and we ordered two with each one cooked differently. I would never go back and would recommend that you don't waste your time if your thinking about going there.
Pros: none
Cons: Rude staff, bad service, inconsistent pizza

I recently came to this restaurant for a birthday get together. What great pizza! The best pizza I have had in a LONG time. I highly recommend this place. One bit of advice - CALL BEFORE TO RESERVE YOUR DOUGH! The reservations were made a couple people short of our actual amount, and some people had to sit in the waiting area to eat. there was no extra room. We still had a wonderful time, and i will only eat pizza from here!
Pros: great pizza great time
Cons: seating is limited

unfortunately i never got to try their pizza. after an hour and a half of us waiting and seeing other tables they arrived after us being served, i decided that the gimmick of the place is not for me. RSRV your pie, get crappy service and for what - pizza? not worth it.

Tacconellis is very good pizza, BUT, and this is a big BUT, the pizza is not consistant, i have gone there at least 20 times the past few years and i can say i WILL Never return. the people who work there are flat out rude and arrogant, and sometimes my pizza is crispy, and sometimes its floppy either because they are so busy, or your pizza sits because the wattresses sit down and talk to eachother. last year i went on a mission to find the best pizza in the area, not just the city and this place clearly is not the best.
Although i love the pep and black olives, there is much better alternatives, i would rather take a 30 minute drive and get AMAZING PIZZA and be treated with respect from a place like delorenzos in trenton.
Also the sauce at tacconellis has been very acidic the past year, and not enjoyable, The pizza taste good, but that is usally after sitting for an hour waiting and having to deal with the rude staff
as a local you constantly have to deal with people from NYC and the suburbs as well, although i dont mind suburbans they seem to sit and chat all night, which doesnt help in a small place. Plus having to find your name on a list for dough gets annoying because usually your name is spelled wrong and your made to feel stupid, or at least i was.
If you dont want to drive far, go to tonys place in the northeast or vinces....they are both decent, but no pizza really has a bite like delorenzos in trenton....
Thats just my opinion though, but i dont see how tacconellis kept winning best of city when its clearly not.
Pros: decent pizza
Cons: long wait rude waitresses

My husband and I have been going to Tacconelli's for 6 years. Our third date together he took me there and family was joking around because of the reserve the dough policy. Jokes on them now, when my father saw Tacconelli's on the Food Network, he begged us to make the reservations that he needed to check it out. History has been made every since! My little sister and her husband are going with us tonight for their first time. Like my dad they are skeptical too of the reserve the dough this better be the best attitude. We will continue to come here even though we commute an hour to get there and sometimes have to wait but it is always worth it!
Pros: Best Pizza Ever!
Cons: Travel/ Parking

Tacconelli's is the only pizza restaurant I've ever heard of where you have to reserve your dough well in advance. But it's terrific and so you play by the rules and reserve. Beware if you don't like garlic. It's positively loaded with it but they'll meet any requests to cut down. They also add quite a bit of extra olive oil after the pie is baked, but you can request this not be done. BYO (We've actually brought our own glasses too as all they had were plastic pepsi cups.). Parking isn't easy since you must find a spot on the street.
