Visited on 6/01/08 and found the food and service measured up to the reputation earned. We each had the famous roast pork and seasoned fries.
Watch the servers: We left a five dollar tip for a twenty-four dollor bill ,cash. We elected to put the meal itself on our credit card. Upon checking our card balance the next morning we found the server had charged us an additional twenty percent on the recipt she submitted. Our reciept clearly shows the total for the meal only. We expressly informed her we had left a cash tip before we left.
Pros: Great food and atmosphere
Cons: Watch the servers don't double dip on tips if you pay by credit card and leave a cash tip

Tony Luke knows ingredients and how to make them come together to please the palate and satisfy the appetite. I would definitely return and bring back friends. It is that kind of place.

Tony Luke's is a Philly tradition. If you're looking for a cheesesteak or a chicken parm sub, this is the place to go before a Flyers, Phillies or Sixers game. And now they're even open on Sundays before Eagles games! But if you're looking for the absolute best roast pork sandwich on the planet, then Tony Luke's is the place to go. The roast pork Italian comes with either broccoli rabe or spinach rabe and SHARP provolone cheese. Without hesitation I can honestly say this is the single best sandwich I've ever tasted. The pork has a delicious spice, the rolls are cooked on-site, the broccoli rabe has a nice zing to it and the cheese is melted heaven. Honestly, if you're a Philly guy, you know this place. If you're not and happen to be in Philly, do yourself a favor and head to Tony Luke's. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
PS: They also serve breakfast! The scrapple, egg and cheese on a hoagie roll is insane. If I still lived in Philly, I'd weigh 300 pounds from eating here every day - LOL!
Pros: Everything on the menu is delicious. Not hyperbole either.
Cons: Standing in a mile long line in the heart of the summer isn't fun but it's worth it,

Tony Luke's has AMAZING sadwiches. It doesn't matter what kind of food you get, its going to be delicious. The line can get long, especially when there is a game in the city.

My one time in Philadelphia rather than passing thru the airport, thought I'd try "the best cheesesteak in town", according to the ratings and peoples comments. Tony Luke's was a BIG disappointment. Bland meat and skimpy portions, almost no cheese and unremarkable bread. We tried two different types to compare; one with whiz and one with sharp but both had almost no flavor unless you added the hot peppers or hot sauce. The onion rings were OK but greasy, slightly undercooked and nothing special. (I added mine to the sandwich to boost the taste.) Next time I'm in town I'll try some place else.
Pros: Good for people watching
Cons: Parking, long lines

People can argue who's got the best cheesesteaks for hours. It's all a matter of taste. MY taste says Tony Lukes is the best around. When the wintry winds stop blowing and the Phillies start playing we always stop at Tony Lukes on our way to the game. Yes, there's one at the stadium but it has proven inconsistant. Some days great; some days not so great. We're never disappointed on Oregon Ave.
Pros: best cheesesteaks!
Cons: parking but who cares?
