This Thrift Shop is one of my favorites. They have a large variety of items to choose from and display them in a very convienant manner. The prices are great and they run GREAT Sales, espeically at the end of every season. Across the street they also have a furniture store, where you can find many antique type pieces. They are not very large, but have excellent items. I would highly recommend this place/

I confess that when I was in college and living full time in Philadelphia, I had few occasions to go to this admittedly expensive little shop. However, I did have a couple of magnificent visits when I found some wonderful, unusual notecards for people unsuited to Hallmark. There is also a tremendous selection of high quality and unusual teas and coffees, only some of which I sampled. Even the few I sampled were extraordinary and the others also smelled terrific. There was also a great selection of imported chocolate, which is very good and well worth an occasional splurge.

Although they are almost next door to the big chain copy-center (ahem, Kinko), this local copy center is a great place to go for people who are knowledgeable and personable. The guys here really know what they are doing and they'll help you in any way possible (without charging you for their knowledge by the second). They specially in printing, design, creation, shipping and office supplies.
Their prices are less expensive than the local Kinko though their hours are not as flexible as that of Kinko's. Most Penn professors have their bulkpacks created and ready for pickup at this location; be forewarned that these bulkpacks can be picked up for a less expensive price at the Engineering copy center within Penn though.
Still, if you are looking for a place to pick up moving boxes, make your photocopies, create a presentation, use a computer or just ship some carepackages home, Campus Copy Center will have the right staff to point you in the right direction.

The nice thing about shopping at the Gallery is that it is so easy to get to. Their is an el stop right below it! They have many good shops and a large food court. Be sure to go near the Christmas holidays when they have it decorated really pretty. Many old favorite type stores with a few unique additions.

I live in University City and drive nearly 30 minutes out of my way to get to Champion Toyota.
The people are nice and extremely helpful. I know nothing about cars, and since they keep tracks of your vehicles service history, they print out the necessary services for your car once it's time to get them.
They also do an excellent overall diagnostics (tire pressure, fluids, etc) job with every service, even when you just go in for an oil change. You pay a premium over your neighborhood mechanic, but it's worth it.
Plus, while you're waiting, you can head over to the Shoe Warehouse (I think it's called), which sells excellent designer knock-offs of major shoe brands. I got a suade, shearling Michael Kors knock-off pair of boots for $20, which beats the real thing by about $300.

This brewery is no longer called "Yard's". Philadelphia Brewing Co. is the new name for the brewery. Great tour and great beers. The facility is quite amazing as the brewery was built in the 1800's. The tour guide takes you right into the brewery where can watch the brewers making beer. The tasting room is also quite amazing and they let you sample all of the beers for free. I saw people hanging out most of the afternoon that looked like locals. I was able to learn about some great places to go in the evening that I would have found out otherwise.
Pros: Free brewery tour and beer
Cons: not a restaurant

I ordered from Insomnia cookies on my senior year of college at Penn. It sounded good enough: order cookies and they'll be delivered warm to your dorm room. It wasn't just good though, it was amazing! They have super fast delivery, their specials are great (a pint of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream with your order!), and their toppings are to die for (twix, milky way, etc...and they can add them to their brownies and blondies too!).
This service was started by two Penn Students in or about 2003. They start at 9pm and close at 3am. You can order cookies, brownies, ice cream, milk, blondies and more. You can choose from many traditional toppings (chocolate chips, nuts, etc) to more non-tradiational toppings (like milky way, snickers, peanut butter chips, etc). They are very friendly and their delivery is very prompt.
So, late at night and craving a sweet treat? Then Insomnia Cookies is the place for you.

I got my rooms on priceline for $55 a night. The rooms are spacious and luxurious. The noise level is somewhat high if you are by the street because you're right in the thick of things. Location is great because you are right near chinatown, the chinatown buses, and reading terminal market.
Pros: cost on priceline, location, convenience, rooms
Cons: noisy at night

I'm not sure what delicate hands you have used to shipped your artwork before but if I had original artwork with glass I wouldn't want the glass to break and puncture the piece. Furthermore i know that ups, dhl, and FedEx all have insurance up to 100 dollars that comes with the shipping cost and a few cents over that if its more. As for the kinkos option I'd feel much better talking to guys at Taws with a brain than to give my work to those underpaid FedEx's robots that look like they have something better to do. At Taws I feel like I'm family and they actually remember my name (sometimes). I love you Taws.
