has the best brunch on sundays! - the drinks (say bloody mary or mimosa..) are as expensive as the meals, but are very delicious. Valanni offers breakfasty foods, as all brunch restaurants, but also lunch-type foods, so if you're not a big breakfast person, like me, you can order something else you prefer.
We found this when we were going Morning Glory for breakfast, but were turned off by the 1.5 hr wait -- we found a place with better food...........and no wait!
Pros: nice neighboorhood, good service and food

I dream about the Good Dog Burger with fries -- a blend of sweet and white potatoes: so delicious! The burger is always cooked to specification and is just juicy and meaty...mmmm. They have a good selection of beers and the waitstaff are very amiable (and always busy!). One of my favourite places.

Great beer distributor with a wide variety of beer to choose from. Whether you're looking for a case of local brew or something imported Springfield is the place to check out. Their stock ranges from domestic beers (bud, miller, pabst, etc) to local brews (such as flying fish, victory and yards) to belgium beer (chimay). Overall, their selection is great and their prices are reasonable. Definitely worth a look.

I have worked as a sommelier for several years now, but I didn't have the proper papers or training. My employer FINALLY agreed to pay for my training, and I chose the Wine School. I attended the Foundation and Intermediate programs. I impressed with the programs and the instructors.
I know they also offer wine tasting classes, but I have not taken any of those.
Pros: Great instructors, good programs
Cons: Not in Center City

This place serves beer to minors. I thought I'd just throw that out there so if you have any moral qualms against it you won't go there. Now that that's out of the way, they also make a kickass pepperoni stromboli and it's within walking distance of Penn's campus. You should definately hit that up for dinner or a snack or something but watch out for kids under 21 buying beer.

When I need to buy a few cases of beer at one time I always go to Bell Beverage. They have so many different types of beer in stock, including domestic and imported. They claim to have over 500 types of imports and 260 American Microbrews. I never counted, so I really don't know for sure. I do know that they always have what I want and that I can always find something new and different to try. The prices are good and so is the service.
