Saturn Club is a good place for decent hair cuts. You can ask for a trainee, which will cost $20 for a basic haircut and shampoo. The hairstlysts are all pretty nice. I had a lot of problem with the front desk people. They have a lot of attitude and rude about making appointments and accepting coupons (y ou can find coupons online or thru campus publications). The prices for the products were rather pricy. Make reservations in advance, as their time slot fill up. Esp during the school year when Penn and Drexel are in session.

I've been going to this salon for over a year now and it's very popular with students in the Penn community. It's a full service salon offering haircuts for men and women, coloring, waxing, etc. One thing to bear in mind is that unlike a salon at the mall, each stylist sets a different rate based on popularity, experience, etc. so the prices for a haircut can vary from a low of $25 to a high of over $40 depending on who you have cut your hair. I'm not sure if the extra money is worth it though - I go to one of the $25 women who always does a wonderful job with my hair and doesn't give me a hard sell on buying "product." I don't even tell her what to do, I just put myself in her hands and I've gotten lots of compliments.

If I opened a hair salon, I can think of many names I might feel like calling it. I might call it Walter's Wondrous World of... Hair. Regardless, I would include *some* reference to 'hair' in there.
Saturn Club is a hair salon. It took me a couple of months to figure this one out - my friends would tell me they were going there, and I would always be thinking "hmm, I didn't know they were into strange clubs".
Since it's right next to the Penn campus, most patrons are students. They regularly advertise and offer discounts to students and pretty much anyone who lives in the area, so it can be a good deal. Regarding the actual quality of their cuts, I've seen a couple of my friends before and after, and I think an entirely respectable job was done.
(I realize that for some people, 'entirely respectable' is not what they want their hair to become. still.)
