this is a very casual restaurant just a step up from fast food like fazoli's. however, it is the bomb to locals. you can get good italian food cheap, did i say CHEAP. their bread is awesome and topped with their salad with ranch dressing....mmmm...there is something about their salad, it is a bit watery, that makes it really good.
i am a peoria native, so a bit biased since i grew up eating Avanti's and loving it. now that i live in texas i find myself craving it at least twice a week. everytime i come to visit peoria i usually get a pizza bread or gondola and salad every day i am there.

Avanti's is a casual Italian restaurant and a Peoria legend. They are best known for their trademark sweet bread used for their sandwiches and pizza bread. Prices are really reasonable, and Avanti's has everything from tortellini to cold cut sandwiches called gondolas. While the food isn't overly gourmet, many Peorian natives have to make a trek to Avanti's when they return home. Be careful in the parking lot here, because the steady stream of traffic is poorly routed and has caused several fender benders between customers.

While not being the most authentic of restaurants, Avanti's is a local favorite for their pizza bread ($2.50 for a huge serving, an extra fifteen cents or so for pepperoni), amazingly sweet bread, and the all-time favorite of Peorians and Bradley students, their Gondolas (pronounced "gon-DOLE-ah," trust me). They have the usual portions of tortellini, ravioli, etcetera, but the Gondolas and the pizza bread are where they stand out most. My one gripe is that they're not 24/hr, they close around 10 I believe.
