It's a winter's day, in a deep and dark December [or January]. You've been at work too many hours, between four walls, too many days. You feel the need to breathe fresh air, to see sun, to see moon, to see sky, to feel wind, to see dogs frolic freely! You need open space! Where are you going to go?
Now, in Pasadena, since May, 2006, there is an Answer: the Alice Frost Kennedy Off-Leash Dog area at Vina Vieja Park at 3026 East Orange Grove Blvd., where big & little dogs abound from dawn to dusk. Is there any greater delight than watching these dogs at play? I take my dog here to meet and greet the neighborhood's best & I have been astonished to find that my previously quasi-anti-social, very protective pup has become a most cordial and amiable animal, rubbing noses with the best of them.
According to the Pasadena Humane Society website http://www.phsspca.org. visiting dogs absolutely must to have a current license and be up-to-date on their vaccines in order to socialize. Otherwise, they are relegated to watch from outside the 6 foot chain link fence which surrounds the 2.5 acre grass surface area designated for separate large and small dog needs. The park affords water stations for dogs, as well a people, and poop bag dispensers, trees, benches, small mounds and two recycled fire hydrants. While dog owners must clean up after their dogs, the park is maintained by the City of Pasadena for grass maintenance, daily trash removal, lawn upkeep, and poop bag refilling.
Even on days/nights when my dog isn't with me, I thoroughly enjoy the park, watching the dogs play freely, meeting other dog owners, as well as getting a spectacular, unobstructed view of the San Gabriel Mt. range to the north. When I heard that a dog park was coming to my area, never previously liking dog parks and their regulations, I was skeptical. I must say that I have been won over. The Alice Frost Kennedy Off-Leash Dog Park is truly a welcomed addition to my neighborhood.

This is a good bike store if your into high end road bikes. They sell very expensive road bikes but also low end products as well.
I purchased my 2004 Kona Kikapu from here and they answered every one of my questions. The problem is that they didn't seem very interested. Sure they did help but didn't do it in a way that made me feel happy.
They have a large selection of Kona mountain bikes and other brands as well. The mechanic is VERY good at what he does but he doesn't seem very nice either.
Bottom line: Great bikes, great work building the bikes, but could be a little more enthusiastic about their jobs.

Getting a good pair of shoes was my first step towards training for the LA marathon. The staff at Run With Us was very knowledgeable and professional. I basically told the man what I was going to do, he looked at my feet, watched me walk, and then brought out some shoes that would be best for me. I've never purchased shoes this way (usually pick the cutest ones). I was encouraged to buy a pair of Pearl Izumis, which isn't a common running brand, but they fit 100% better than any other shoe I've worn and have held up great. I was also encoraged to get the blister prevention socks. Run With Us gave me a discount for being a memeber of a local running club as well. I highly recommend this store.

When I took a photo class at PCC, I often went to Reed's. They had everything like photo thermometers, photo paper, mounting tissue, mounting boards and film professionals would recognize. They had reasonable prices and offer student discounts. Make sure to pick up a frequency card. I've gotten a couple rolls of film for free as a result! The store's parking is a bit small and utilizes tandem parking (one car in front of other) so I wouldn't recommend that. But there's usually nearby street parking.

This place is great for the time when you need something soccer related thats quality. They carry a lot of merchandise that is of great quality, but won't break your wallet. I bought a pair of molding shin guards there a couple of years ago and it was the best investment i could've made. The staff there is friendly and will help give you suggestions and find anything you need.

It only opened just a couple of years ago. They showcase California art and Pasadena artists and also architecture. The admission tickets are pretty cheap. For adults just six dollars and seniors are 4 dollars. They have free admission on the first Friday of every month. Pretty good deal for those that like art, paints and such. I went with the family. I’m not into these too much. But, it was nice to look at the different painting.

This is where we’ve played almost every Sunday morning for the past 20+ years. Pretty well maintained, plenty of courts which are generally accessible (in 2009) and available, views of the mountains, open sky, breathing room. Our tax dollars go toward the upkeep of these courts and I am happy they are available for our use on Sundays
