If you're craving a real old-fashioned soda, sundae or milk shake, this is the place for you. Soda Jerks not only has a fun atmosphere and a classic old soda fountain counter—it serves the real thing including drinks you just can't find any more like egg creams. It also is one of the only places I know that serves Fosselmann's ice cream (once again, the real thing—cream and all-real ingredients). They also have great burgers, fries and salads—and their tuna melt is the classic at its best!

The Chronicle Wine Cellar is tucked back behind a diner in Pasadena and has the feel of poking around a friend's spare bedroom (that he's converted to show hundreds of bottles of wine). Without all the frills, Chronicle manages to sell very well selected bottles at a reasonable price.
The store is the legacy of a now-closed restaurant famous for its wine cellar. There are still some vintage bottles left from that original collection, though most of their stock is recently purchased.
Real oenophiles will enjoy the selection of familiar California wines but in a little less common vintages. And they have a decent selection of Old World favorites from France, Italy, and Spain.
Don't be freaked out when they make you charge your credit card at the Pie 'n' Burger. It's part of the quirky charm.
PROS: Cheap, Excellent choices
CONS: Small, hard to find

This is a great little place off the beaten path of Lake Avenue in Pasadena. If you are into wine, cheese, cigars and chocolate, then this is the place for you. An incredible selection displayed in a quiet atmosphere with a wonderful relaxed vibe. Cyndie is a really nice host - and she puts together a wonderful cheese plate to satisfy your tastebuds while you're trying the wines. They do wine tastings, which is good because I'm no expert and can use all the suggestions I can get - gift baskets - and they sell my favorite, the Chocolate Traveler!
Pros: Great selection, Good prices, Friendly Service
Cons: Too many temptations - I might end up a wino!
