Stastny Insurance provides individualized customer service that I haven't found anywhere else. When I had an issue requiring their attention, one of their associates worked so closely with me that she ended up recognizing my name. Their prices are about average for the region, but their customer service truly distinguishes them.

Double Rock Park is a shady oasis in the middle of Parkville, easily accessible from the city. There are two state of the art playgrounds, several ball fields, and well marked hiking trails. It's wooded, so cool for summer, and usually pretty empty of people. You can rent the pavilions for a nominal donation fee.

This is a great fish store, with a lot of promise. The selection of fresh and saltwater stock is huge for a store this size. They even carry some amphibians as well. The staff is helpful and friendly, with one exception . . . The "Fish keeper". This guy is very knowledgeable, but he prefers to spend his time with the fish, not people. He does a great job of keeping the tanks and livestock in good condition, but stay clear of him if you can! The other employees will be glad to help you with whatever you need. If there is a question they can't answer, they will steer you in the right direction to find it, rather than give you bad advice.
You can expect to find a broad range of live, frozen, and dried foods. There is a small variety of aquatic plants, tank ornaments and books. The normal assortment of hardware, tanks, regular and specialty lights, all types of filters, gadgets and medications. Then there is the better than average variety of pond supplies, equipment, and pumps. They even have one indoor pond stocked with live Koi. They carry bulk quantities of such things as plain salt, (80lb bag) and sea salt in large quantities to save you money.
After a full year, involving many trips to this store, I've found the prices to be better than average, or equal to other stores on most items.
In all, this is a well rounded store that is worth a trip for the experienced aquarist looking for something a bit different. Just don't expect anyone to coddle you through every purchase. This is a busy place, better suited to people who already have a good basic knowledge of fish keeping. They'll help you when they have time, but don't expect to get personal attention on every sale. Do your homework before you go!

Charm City Treasures is in a row of antique stores on Harford Road and offers an ever-changing variety of antiques for the adventurous antique hunter. To truly appreciate Charm City, you have to return a few times, because their stock changes often. The store is cluttered but not disorganized, and the staff are helpful. Great fun shopping experience.

I know a family member swears by this shop,hes friends with the owner since he was a frequent visitor. If you watch Penn and Tellers show on Showtime,the episode about gun control they spotlighted this shop. Its a well known and respected Baltimore shop,they have different guns,crossbows,etc. So if your in the area look for them,can't miss the big sign.

For starters we got cheese pakoras (basically fried cheese) and the veggie platter that had pakoras, samosas, and something else that I forgot. Both excellent choices, probably only needed to get the platter to be satiated though.
I got the Lamb Koorma which was reaaaaaaaaallyyy good. The sauce was absolutely delicious, and I kept on mopping it up with the Onion Naan we ordered. Looking back, I think I would have rather had the Chicken Koorma because I think the sauce would have suited chicken better. I also tried the Malai Kofta which is a vegetarian dish that was really yummy!!!!!! The koftas were really soft, and the sauce was, once again, spectacular.
I tried tandoori paneer (cheese) which was good, but sometimes I felt the tandoori was wholly overpowering my cheese. The Onion Naan is delicious and a definite addition to this meal, and the Alu Paratha is another tasty addition.. I would have loved to try their Mango Lassi, because someone else got it in the restaurant and I was jealous. They are said to have a really good buffet for lunch that is reasonably priced. This place is yum in my books :)

Weber's Farm is a must-see in the autumn, there are so many things to see and do. There are activities for kids, a large selection of pumpkins, great homemade goods in the store, fruits and veggies to buy and cider to taste. Check the farm's website for an events list. Definitely the place to go to get into that cozy fall-season spirit!

This is a specailty pharmacy that you would go to when you need medical supplies that you cannot get most other places. It is always busy and has very limited parking. The service is slow even if there is no one there but you . When you go in the person at the desk will get to you when she feels like it. She will call in the back to get someone to come out to wait on you. They will be with you when they get there. If they are busy, it will take longer. Once they arrive they know their job and can get what you want and get you out quickly. I have had to deal with these people a few times and the service is always the same. This is a necessary place and you only go there when it is necessary.

This is an old standard for Parkvile people. You can expect a hearty serving of whatever you choose from the menu. All the sandwiches and entrees are sure to please. The meat will always be moist, tender and flavorful. And the sandwiches are sized right. Just enough to fill you up.
They offer quite a variety now, having honed this business to perfection over many years of trial and error. They listen to the customers, and over the years they have added this and that to give the public what they want. The result is a menu that is second to none in the "Pit" business. They even offer real "ocean fries" that so many Marylanders are familiar with. And they taste just like the "real" thing. The ribs are cooked to perfection, as the meat just falls off the bone and melts in your mouth. The sauce has just the right balance of flavors for most people, and they keep a wide selection of condiments to custom tailor your food to your taste.
This stand has been so popular for so long, that it is now being franchised. We just had one open in Edgewood MD, and the food is just as good as the original. So if you see one opening in your neighborhood, give it a try. It's a great alternative to chains that served billions!
