Campmor is a great source for anything you might need for outdoor activities. They have shoes and clothing for every season. You can also find a great selection of camping equipment. Prices are not cheap but the quality is excellent. The staff is very knowledgeable and most are very experienced in outdoor activities.

Campmor is located about 20 minutes outside of NYC in Paramus, NJ. You'll need a car to get there, but if you can't get there and you're reading this you can likely get to their web site, campmor.c0m. The store has a huge selection of seasonal gear - tents, hiking boots, trail shoes, sunglasses, sleeping bags, pads, running clothing, rain gear etc, and in the winter thermal underwear, goggles and on and on. Parking is on site and more than ample. The sales people here are good and bad - I've overheard the young salespeople insult what turned out to be my car in the parking lot, I've dealt with clueless salespeople, salespeople reticent to help, etc... but on the other hand I've had some very good help here as well. One time the salesman set up a few tents for me and my girl to look at. As with most of these types of stores it's a good idea to do your own reasearch before you show up to examine the gear. This store beats the pants off of Paragon sports in NYC and their web site is better as well, but obviously you have to get there to enjoy the retail store. They also have an email-list that offers great sales deals, and will mail you their hefty catalogue if you want it. BTW there is also an EMS right next door, an easy walk, if you can't find what you want at Campmor. There are also many outlet-like stores on the road on the way to Campmor, Route 17. Pros: huge selection, good prices, great mailing list Cons: likely need a car to visit retail store

Campmor offers much more then camping gear. They have a nice selection of ski items, from children to adults. They also have an area set aside for girl and boy scout unifroms, books and the like. Campor offers fishing poles as well gear, all under one roof. Staff is very knowledable and will always try to help.

If you've ever gotten the small, TV Guide sized Campmor catalogs, you need to stop by their main store in Paramus. Right on Rt. 17 (be careful--go slow on the right lane or you'll miss it!)---this is THE place to buy equipment and clothes. If you have a question, these people can answer it. Plus, NJ doesn't have sales tax on clothing ---- so you can work it out either way. Look for the special deals, too!

This has got to be one of the best stores for everything outdoors! They carry everything from kayaks and tents to bicycling equipment and outdoor clothing. They have a wide selection of hiking boots. Everyone who works there seems to know anything about the outdoors and can give great recommendations and advice to those who are confused by what is the best thing to buy for their level. The prices cannot be beat. They also have a mail order catalog that is fantastic! This is the premiere camping store in NJ!!

The sales reps are very helpful and knowledgeable. Good place to go browse and ask for help, but I wouldn't recommend to make a purchase there because of the prices.
