Once you get past the fact in it's in a shopping mall and actually go in, it's a really nice experience. While you're waiting for your treatment they bring you warm water to soak your feet which is a really nice touch. The treatment and service was good. Prices on the high side.
PROS: warm foot bath
CONS: pricey

Blue Chalk is more of a bar than a restruant, and fridays and saturday nights it's completely packed with stanford students trying to party the night away.
During the day, however, it is a full-service restrauant with a distinctively american fare. You can get burgers, sausages, pizza, chicken, and anything else you would find in a bar-turned-cafe venue.
At night, however, it becomes a pseduo-nightclub complete with bouncer checking drivers licenses. Inside is a DJ blasting bop-bop-bop-thump-bop tunes as well as several pool tables, shuffleboard, darts, and other bar-esque games.
There are 3 full bars: 2 downstairs and one upstairs that are often crowded at night with a 5-10 min wait to get drinks. Then again, that's what you expect for a psedo-hop bar next to a college campus.

I love going to the Creamery downtown -- an old '50s style diner with amazing burgers (I believe they are Niman Ranch) and fries. Their baked goods are also really good. I love the Morning Bun which has an interesting orange flavor. It is very kid friendly as well which can be hard to find in Palo Alto.

More
Country Sun Health Food store is located in Palo Alto on California Avenue, and they are an old hippy style place gone modern. It is frequented by many of the faculty and students of Stanford Univ. This store still has a social conscience and gives senior discounts on Sundays and Wednesdays. This is a larger version of Bumblebee Foods. more of everything and they have a small organic produce department as well. They have a huge vitamin section and a couple of the staff are very knowledgeable--and a couple aren’t. Look for the older ladies. Wisdom comes with age! Again most all of their staff is very friendly and helpful. their prices are a little high--but not too bad. They have goat milk cheeses here also with better prices than Bumblebee. Parking can be a bit of a problem, but usually I can find a spot in the parking garage behind the store.

As the director of SkinSpirit, I frequent review sites. It seems some people aren't comfortable addressing less-than-exceptional service or results directly with us. It's unfortunate, because we really do care. We take our training, safety, skill and customer service very seriously and, despite our every effort, we may not always be perfect. If it happens, I welcome the feedback- am even grateful for it- so we can constantly improve.
It pains us when we see a review from an unsatisfied client who didn't give us the opportunity to make it right. I invite Anonymous to call me personally so I can refund her money- as we stand behind our results. Cara is one of the best RNs in the industry and both she and I wish we knew more about Anonymous's experience.
Anyone can call me- any time- and I'd be happy to discuss SkinSpirit and our high standards of excellence.
Thanks for taking the time to read this,
Stacey Yates, Director, SkinSpirit
