Pros: disco lights

Miyake is our favorite spot for great tasting sushi at reasonable prices. It is near Stanford and in the heart of Palo Alto which provides great atmosphere reminiscent of a wild fraternity house at times. Sake bombs are a must, and must be consumed while standing on your chair to the delight of the other patrons. My personal favorites are their soft shelled crab, hamachi, kani, and saba. Don't forget generous helpings of wasabe in your soy sauce. Enjoy!

This place is definitely a very particular place in the Palo Alto area. Before 7:30pm, it isn't much more than just a standard japanese/sushi restaurant with a very wide menu selection. After 7:30, the restaurant goes absolutely nuts, turning the inside into a club type atomosphere complete with fog makers, laser lights, discoballs, etc. Often times, the crowds get so large there is a huge line of people waiting outside. Be advised though, if you are under 21, you have to arrive before 7:30 otherwise they will not let you in. The food here is very good. Don't expect something absolutely amazing, but for the price, it is extremely good. There is a HUGE variety of sushi that you can order as well as a decently extensive menu of other japanese food. The bento box meals are a great value since you get a very large portion of great food for just $11. Katsu dishes here are absolutely enormous too. This is definitely a place I try to go to atleast once every couple months because its such a great place to unwind with its club like atmosphere.
Pros: Food is great, seating is prompt, service is fast, rotating sushi bar if you prefer that, etc.
Cons: Can get extremely full if you don't get there early enough. Heavy drinking atmosphere at night might be distasteful for some

My family and I have been going there for several years, we love it during weekdays for lunch and early dinner time. We avoid Friday and Saturday nights, becuase it is more for young or single people that want to party. Food is good and economic. I never got sick in there as other places.
I recomend lunch boxes, they have good California rolls.
Pros: Good food and economic
Cons: Sometimes service can be slow, too many clients

Miyake is one of my favorite places. For lunch you get a wide selection of items, all reasonably prices. Their miso soup is some of the best I've ever had and everything on the menu is very good. I have always found their staff to be very helpful, especially with small children. For the really hungry person they have a combination dinnder for about $13 that will feed even my very large teenage son. It can get croweded on the weekends, so beware of that.
PROS: Very good food, reasonably priced
CONS: Can be very noisy

I've been here both at night and during the day for lunch and you can barely believe that it's the same place. I frequent here for their lunch boxes. You get a few pieces of sushi and then maybe some teryaki chicken and tempura for very little money. I think it's just as good quality as some of the much more expensive sushi places in San Jose. Then at night it becomes this crazy bar atmosphere where people are standing on the table doing sake bombs. Just nutty. I prefer the lunch atmosphere, but the sake bomb people seem to be having their share of fun too.

Miyake's is always crowded whenever I happen to pass it during lunch time or in the evening. I figured we should check it out to see what all the hype is all about. The website had decently priced items of food and said the atmosphere contained people from Stanford, so I figured the age group was between 20 to 30 something.
I only recommend Miyake's if you're going out with a WILD group of PARTIERS. The food was OK. The atmosphere was one like I've never seen before. There are people doing saki bombs left and right, standing up on chairs, music is blaring, oh and I can't forget the disco lights and fog machine are put to great use for people slamming their saki.

During the day and Sun.-Thur. evenings, this place is just a casual Japanese restaurant with a sushi boat bar. But on Friday and Saturday nights, the place is filled with disco lights, loud music, smoke and tons of people standing on their chairs doing sake bombs!
Great for a gathering of friends for any occasion. Birthday celebrations will be an uproar with the compimentary sake drinking event.
Sushi is good. It's not anything fancy. They have the largest selection of sushi that I've ever seen with many items only created at this restaurant. The bento boxes and noodles are HUGE! And all the food is CHEAP!!!
Parking is great because a parking garage is less than a block away so that's never a problem.
No one under 21 after 7pm on Friday and Saturday. The bouncer at the door is really friendly. He won't seat your party until everyone has arrived, tho. And be sure to note the rules on the door when entering on the weekend.
Any other given day, this place is great for anyone, even families with children. The also offer free Wi-Fi.
The staff is pretty friendly and service is quick.
PROS: CHEAP!!! Large selection, large portions (bentos & noodle dishes)
CONS: Can be VERY loud on the weekends
