I went with a friend of mine for a casual dinner. The best samosas I have ever had. I focus on the little things like chutneys and raitas and Chef Sachin Chopra delivered what I have been looking for over 9 years in US now - both were the best by far.
Sure the items on the menu were a bit expensive (Entre: 18-50 I guess), but food quantities were quite generous. We knew we ordered a bit extra, but the left overs laster me for 2 full meals. Our total bill was $87 (plus tip) - not bad huh!!
I haven't tried their non-veg menu yet, but can't wait to go again.... at the very least once....
If you like authentic Indian food, made and served gourmet style and don't mind paying that little extra price, then you have to give this a try. Hope you like it just as much too.

The best chocolate mousse I've ever had. I was visiting from out of state and friends said we must try this. They were right, I'm glad I went. They are very nice there as well. I highly recommend them.

I took my fiancee here for her 30th birthday with her family and had a wonderful experience. The staff was not only attentive, but kind and knowledgable about the entire menu and provided great recommendations. The only negative was that they were out of the entree special of the evening which sounded tasty. It was our first time to the restaurant and there is no doubt I would return again. The ambiance was nice, it wasn't too loud and again the food was absolutely wonderful.
Pros: food, food, food
Cons: none come to mind

This is a charmer. They serve great food and on Saturday nights they have a duo singing french songs. Cozy and authentic. What could be better? I agree with the previous reviewer though, don't take my seat!

This is not a place in which you rush in and rush out. The table is yours for the evening, and - agreed - you will spend an evening there. However, if you manage to adjust your expectations, you will find wonderful food and perhaps the sweetest owner/chef in town. The food is all top-notch, and you can expect that there are only a certain number of "servings" of each item for the evening, which attests to the freshness. The presentation is also agreeably simple, concentrating on presenting the best ingredients in a pleasing way. It's a lovely place, but certainly not one you should go to if you are in a hurry. But you need to slow down a bit anyway, don't you?
Pros: freshest ingredients, lovely hostess

I am saddened to see the bad reviews for Cafe Fino in Palo Alto as all my experiences there have been wonderful! Fred Maddalena is the owner and it is clear to see why he remains in business still after 30 years. Fred pays attention to everyone who walks through his door ensuring they are seated and taken care of...very rare these days! I personally have had no issues with food or service. The biggest draw for me is the art deco decor and the live music. It takes you back to another place and time. It is also so nice to sit at a bar and hold a conversation without having to shout over earsplitting music which is so common among many of the new minimalist restaurants popping up. As far as I am concerned, if you want a pleasant, relaxing evening out in a unique setting, check out Cafe Fino.
Pros: Ambience, Music, Decor

I normally don't write recommendations but wanted to give a postive review for this restaurant. We were planning to go to Mediterranean resturant. We forgot to bring the address and stopped into Restoration Hardware to see if they knew the street of the restaurant. We met a pleasant fellow there who offered to walk us. During our little walk he also recommended various restaurants that he liked in Palo Alto. After looking at the menu we changed our minds and decided to try one of his recommendations, Zucca. Our pleasant guide really enjoyed the Zucca's duck entree. We enjoyed the food and found the staff very helpful. The wine recommendation from Mario was delicious and went well with my Sea Bass. My husband was craving something simple and tomato based and the staff modified one of their entrees to suit his taste. Our chocolate mousse and molten cake were delicious. The ambience was low key and we had a lovely evening out. A nice neighborhood restaurant.
Pros: Great staff, nice low key ambience

The wait staff was clearly not Mediterranean and the food was only slightly closer to the claimed source. Come here for mediocre food at Shopping Mall prices with a crowd that screams "It's pretty expensive, so it must be good." Some of the worst Italian in the Palo Alto area.
Pros: Location
Cons: Service, Food
