I've been eating Johnny C's for over 20 years, and it is my favorite pizza in KC. It comes with a thin crisp crust, but it is the provel cheese that really makes the pizza great. It is also an interesting place to visit. The atmosphere is relaxed. This is definitely a family friendly place, but they do serve cold beer which is a perfect companion for the pizza.
The only knock on their food is that with the thin crust and the way they cut the pizza into small square pieces, it can sometimes be a bit messy if you order too many toppings. In my opinion, this is a small issue for a pizza that is this good and unique here in KC.
Something I haven't seen other reviews mention is the sandwiches. They make a fantastic Italian steak on a toasted roll with the same cheese they use on the pizza. It is in a strip shop at the corner of 75th and Nieman which is an easy in and out from I-35.

If you haven't tried Johnny C's, you're really missing the boat. I've lived in Chicago, Houston, Seattle and Kansas City. Next to the original Uno's in Chicago, this is my favorite pizza. Actually since my last trip to the original Uno's was disappointing, JOHNNY C's IS NUMBER ONE!
Actually the two are nothing alike...this is the best of the thin crust pizzas. The sauce is tangy and flavorful. The cheese is unique. A provel mixture (provolone and mozarella)...may take getting used to but once you do it's hard to accept any other. Other places have it, Leo's, George's, Imo's and I believe Waldo...but Johnny C's does it right! The Johnny C's Deluxe is the one we always get. Start with a Chef salad (comes with a great piece of cheese toast) with creamy garlic and you'll already be halfway to heaven!! The pizza takes you the rest of the way! One word of warning and advice...let the pizza cool for about 5 minutes before grabbing that first piece. It takes time for the flavors to meld together and to keep that wonderful cheese from burning your mouth! Darn...after writing this review I'm so hungry for Johnny C's I may have to head over there tonight! ENJOY!!
Pros: Great crust, cheese mix, sauce and salad
Cons: Location is somewhat "low rent"

The pizza of the house is thin crust - the menu notes they will make "slightly" thicker crust by request, though. Nontheless, the thin crust is really very good - crunchy but not crackerlike. It is the best part of the pizza since the pepperoni, while plentiful, was rather bland along with the sauce. The cheeze, when hot, acted like it was pasteurized, processed cheese food and stuck madly to my teeth. When it cooled, it was actually a better pizza. There is a bar inside, so the idea of "family pizzaria" may be pushing it for some people.
Pros: Excellent Crust, Cost
Cons: Cheap tasting Cheese, Bland Sauce
