I recently went shopping for an engagement ring for my Girl friend, she is the best and I wanted to give her the best, i did alot of looking around , I went to Zales and Shanes, the quality wasn't the same and their prices were higher. When I went to Karats that was the best thing I did, great quailty at a price that wasn't going to break me. It was a 5 k diamond and my Girl friend now my fiancee loves it loves me even more. I would highly recomend Andy and Karats to anybody looking for great Jewelry they had a lot of great selections. I don't understand why anybody would say anything bad about Karats because its not true.
Pros: Great Prices

When a negative review gets posted, follow it up with a positive the next day! And with the same missouridude pattern!
Funny you would now say anything bad said about you is not true, Andy. Did the negative reviews just magically appear out of thin air? Was there really no basis whatsoever for the negative reviews? (Keep in mind, Andy and I were friends before the con artist decided to deliberately rip me off and commit fraud. And, what's that? A negative review or 2 before you decided to rip me off too!? Seems to be a trend.) Did I do anything to deserve not only being ripped off by $1,000+, but lied to on a VERY frequent basis throughout the whole 6-month ordeal? NO! I did you a favor by buying my ring at your store and not going to somebody cheaper (for the exact same name-brand jewelry) and much MUCH more reputable and respectable as jewelers. Andy, you brought all of this on yourself. You and only you are responsible for your reprehensible actions.
And, of course, the "apologies" and responses you have written on these boards wouldn't at all suggest your guilt either, would they?
Cons: Andy

I was in doing some shopping with my girlfriend looking for engagement rings (we had been to 5 other stores) and I was impressed.
The owner was actually in the store and was very nice and very open to having my girlfriend try anything and everything on (bonus points). Even after 30 minutes or so of just looking, the owner always seemed excited to show us more of the really gorgeous jewelry. I guess he enjoys what he does.
The store had a warm feel to it and was a nice change of pace from somewhere like Helzberg or Shane Co.
I would recommend Karats as a place to stop in and check out if you are shopping around. Good experience, good prices, nice place, nice people.
Pros: Pleasent, nice, knowledgable, affordable elegance.
Cons: Smaller store.

Why is it that ever since negative reviews started getting deleted that positive reviews start popping up like mad here?
And what is with all the positive reviews following the same pattern? Just go back and look:
* "Customer" walked into Karats
* "Customer" starts off by praising Andy
* "Customer" says he/she looked at jewelry
* "Customer" advertises for Karats by saying they have a great selection, great service, and great products.
* "Customer" never provides any proof or specifics of what he/she is talking about. How about stating what you were looking for, how these prices compared to other stores, praise the other employees (I know Andy isn't the only one there judging by the amount of time he spends out of town or the country, or on Facebook). OFFER SPECIFICS! I actually know firsthand that Karats' prices are some of the most expensive in town and that the owner will get pi*sy with you if you prefer the less expensive piece of jewelry over the more expensive.
* I especially love the reviews that try to contradict what the negative reviewer says. "I took the jewelry into an expert and it came out ok", for example.
It's already very obvious that Andy the owner is the user missouridude. Not only is his e-mail address the same, but he went to other web sites and copied & pasted that exact same review WORD FOR WORD. It's just too "coincidental" that all these positive reviews follow missouridude's exact same writing pattern and style.
I agree with you Andy......I mean "MDub" - the owner sure does love what he does. He loves it so much he has to write positive reviews about himself on the internet. Sad.

Now, onto my experience with Karats. My wife and I bought one of our wedding bands in August 2008 from Karats, and more specifically - from Andy (the "owner"). We didn't receive the band until the end of December. That's 4 months as opposed to the 6-8 weeks he promised. Not only did it take 4 months, but he gave me a knockoff! I bought a Jeff Cooper ring (says so on my receipt as well). This ring was expensive - a little over $2,000 - and the fine name of Jeff Cooper had a lot to do with that price as his work speaks for itself and more than justifies the price. Jeff Cooper Designs verified that the ring I received was not their work and Karats did in fact give me a fake. Based on the opinion of other reputable and RESPECTABLE jewelers (and also authorized dealers of Jeff Cooper's products), I was ripped off by at least $1,000. Andy tried to weasel his way out by saying an employee handled my order and was fired for doing this. That couldn't be further from the truth. Andy handled my order from day one. I still have e-mails where he specifically says, "When I sent the paperwork to Jeff Cooper."
If you have ever bought a Jeff Cooper ring from Karats, check to make sure Jeff Cooper's name is engraved in it. The knockoff I got was missing this engraving, and the 18K that was engraved into it was stamped (in other words, it was hard to read and the jewelers couldn't tell if it said 18K or 10K) as opposed to laser engraved. Also, Jeff Cooper Designs informed me that Karats even used the wrong diamonds in this ring. If you bought designer jewelry other than Jeff Cooper, take it to another authorized dealer and get their opinion.
Also take a look at Karats' web page. Go to the designers section and notice who his first designer is - Andy's own sister!
Unfortunately, if you have been scammed, you will need to go to the designer as Karats has a policy of no refunds. Yes - NO REFUNDS. Someone sure has confidence in his products. Or is it because he's done soemthing like this to more people than just myself, and he's trying to protect his rear?
PS - I was friends with Andy in college. If he does this to a friend, I wonder what he does to customers he doesn't know.

I purchased a jewelry item from Karats recently for my daughter. I found the CEO Andy very courteous and polite. He impressed me with his professionalism. I was shown a variety of items before I selected one. On checking with an expert I have been told that the item is very good value for the money I spent. I see myself and my family, therefore, as customers of Karats whenever we have jewelry requirements in future.
Pros: Polite and courteous

I firmly believe that it takes a degree of inner strength to offer apology over an incident. Equally, it takes a greater degree of inner strength to accept someone's apology and forgive. I have offered my sincere apology to Mr B Duggan for his disappointment as a customer of Karats and I have no hesitation in offering unconditional apology again.
