I have been going to Ascension for 8 years. The teachers have taught me very well, but it is a little more strict then the other schools in Overland Park. The grading scale is higher then public schools, too. The religion classes teach you very well about Jesus and God and being Catholic.

Ascension is a great way to get an education. It has high status in the state of Kansas. One of the problems with ACS is it's staff. They have some very very wonderful teachers but on the other hand they do have some teachers who pick on certain kids, or try to embarrass them. It is a fairly new school with Mass every week, a new gym, library, and playground. Everyone is friendly... except when it comes to those certain teachers.

I went to Ascension for seven years, starting when it opened. The school is plenty rich, and there are TV's in every classroom as well as computers, smartboards, and a new program called accelerated math. I didn't get to use most of these technological advances because they were implenmented some years after I left. Money doesn't always buy good education though. My time there could have been well spent at some other school.
When I attended years ago, there was a principal that has since left that was very strange. Even parents felt uncomfortable around him. That is one the reasons for the poor rating.
Other reasons for the poor rating include clueless teachers, bad english teaching, and not enough classrooms.
2 stars.
