Attention - this place is under new management; forget all the previous reviews and experiences. The new culinary director has a good following in the KC area; he is a BBQ purist, with experience in competition BBQ and currently teaches classes at the Culinary Center of KC (I took the class and learned lots). There are lots of good BBQ places in KC, and this one can finally hold its own now.

Went to K.C. Masterpiece on March 29th; started with onions straws and chicken drummies, and the pepper spears. The pepper spears were good. The rest of the food there lacked flavor, ordered burnt ends, which came out very fatty with a bland B.B.Q. sauce, (not the K.C. Masterpiece you can buy at the store) The drinks ordered were two Margaritas with Patron, and let's just say it only tasted like sour mix. The overall appearance of the restaurant is dark, you can see back towards the kitchen area which seemed very unkempt. Even better was that we had to ask to get silverware and to get our drinks it took around 10 minutes. The restaurant was not very busy at the time. The service was poor, the food was terrible, and I would not recommend to any one to even bother thinking about going there. Pros: parking Cons: food, service, drinks, ambience

I'm from Kansas City and while I've never eaten at the one in K.C., I've eaten at the one in St. Louis, and I wouldn't recommend it for ribs. I've eaten at the one in St. Louis 3 times and the first 2 times I ordered sandwiches which were very good. The last time I ate there, I ordered ribs, and they were awful. They were tough and had a strange taste to them which needed more BBQ sauce to cover up. I couldn't even finish them which is pretty bad for me because I love BBQ and eat it quite often. Pros: Good sandwiches, Nice restaurant Cons: Terrible ribs

The food and the service are excellent. The food came out so quick i didn't have time to eat my salad, but the ribs Iordered were suculent. A 6 star rating!!!

I don't know who writes these things, but I was shocked at how far off the KC Masterpiece criticisms were. I ate at the Figoretta's Jack Stock place and felt the ratings were almost ridiculous. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anywhere near the flavor or atmosphere of the KC Masterpiece restaurant. Also, why isn't the Plaza location listed, I had to look in the phone book to discover the Plaza location. Great food, great location, lots to do both before dinner and for the after dinner walk. This IS a restaurant that deserves to have the city in its name! Pros: Value priced, Meats are Hi Quality, Fun place Cons: No real issues
